Aurelion Sol is Truly Broken--Here's Why and How Riot Might Fix Him
As we all know, today Aurelion Sol was released. I did not buy him but I played with and against him in every game today.
Playing against him increases my NaCl levels. His passive is truly ludicrous. It seems easy to get kills with Aurelion Sol. All you have to do is stun your enemy with Star Surge, walk back, activate Celestial Expansion, and walk away when the stun wears off. The passive, and the passive + W especially, does all the work in taking an enemy out.
Know I know what you might be thinking. "Yo, Einstein, all his abilities were designed to be followed up with his passive." To which my response is, yes I know. I have no problem with that. What I am concerned about is his passive damage. Too much, too quick.
Here is my proposal on balancing this champ out.
-
Reduce the revolution speed of the stars on Sol's passive slightly. Make it so the revolve speed increases with consecutive hits on Champs. Remove minion execute.
-
Slightly reduce the damage on the impact of the stars.
-
Reduce stun duration by 25% on his Q
-
The ULT damage is way too high (200 / 300 / 400 (+ 70% AP)). AP champs can easily stack alot of AP. IMO, the AP bonus should be 50%.
That is my list. This champion isn't all bad though. He makes for a good tank. Has a ton of CC which is good in team fights. And is extremely versatile, he can play any role well.
I don't want this champ to be nerfed to the ground but just to be balanced.
Let me know what you think of my list. What would you do differently. What would you remove? Please make sure you constructively criticize.

into him. Your stun lasts longer (at max rank its double his stun) and has just as much range if not more. Once he is stunned his passive will go away and you are free to damage him without taking any yourself. Pantheon is also a good choice against him, point click stun and Aurelion is super weak to melee. Malzahar is decent enough although if you time your ult wrong you will lose miserably. Lux out ranges him so she is also not a bad pick.
