Why do I need to get a champion shard to unlock mastery level 6? I've had my champ before hextech started, and now I'm required to get a champion shard? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but this is a bit unfair as I already own the champ and I got my 2 tokens. Am I missing something maybe?
MotrColt1 votesyou can still get the shard even though you own the champion, though the easier method would be to disenchant champ shards for the blue essence.

MotrColt1 votesby disenchanting champion shards. I think the rates for champion shards are much lower than skin shards, atleast in my experience i've gotten about a 1:3 ratio. it makes sense that champion mastery would be linked to champ shards
