The ranked matching system is horrible at best

Ranked play in League is probably the most fun and at the same time the most frustrating game experience there is. I like playing competitive games but I also like playing with and against people around my same level of play.

The matching system has too broad a skill difference. It's common to have iron and silver players on the same team along with people who have a consistent record of giving up lots of kills.

Too many games in the solo/duo low MMR bracket are decided by a coin flip. Matches boil down too which team has the least amount of bad players instead of which team played better. If you're team has 1 feeder and the enemy has 2 chances are you win even if you don't play very well and vice versa.

It seems to me the queue system just pulls from a broad range of MMR in order to make matches quickly. I'd rather wait longer and have better matches then have a short wait and have the game be decided by a coin flip.

Also you can't see the MMR formula. That seems shady and like Riot is trying to hide something. No reason we can't see the MMR formula unless it's just bad and Riot doesn't want to improve because of the above mentioned short queue times.

Also as a side note there is no need for more than 1 provisional and a soft reset. Which is hardly soft because you go down an average of 2 leagues. That's really just a tool to take away what players have earned and keep them grinding.

You could get a lot more players and keep people playing by simply just fixing the broken matching system. Perhaps I'm asking for too much but there's my two cents.

Happy leagueing :)

I like playing competitive games

But like 5% of players play it competitively. Nobody care about being serious in ranked. It's the only reason I saw when ppl told me "Stop tryhard" in ranked, or when ppl go 1/10 at 20 min still trying to fight 1v1. Or when i see ppl want kill at all cost and tradekill. Ppl trolling, ppl first time, ppl in losing streak doing shit because they don't care, ppl at 0 lp d4/p4 know they wont demote after 10 losing streak so they permit to troll. Ppl not respecting vision/missing. Too many don't know basics too. Even in diamond many players don't know how splitpush work. IMO Ranked is just normal draft with more even skill, when it's supposed to match you with same tier elo. Just play your games and try to get fun.

For me a lot complain about matchmaking but main problem is just players themself.

How ok are you with watching your MMR stagnate or even lower over time while keeping 50% or even slightly better win rate(bcs thats what happens unless you are fluctuating it)? Maybe you could take it, I'm pretty sure many players would be sad af and they would quit.

There is very small differences between good iron players and bad silver players. I have played between bronze 5 and silver 3 since I started and the only deciding factor of what rank I finished the season was the number of games played.

I do agree that matchmaking needs improvements. They made a stellar attempt last season with positional ranks (which I appreciate and support these kinds of attempts if they go good or bad). I agree that mmr should be visible but your assertion that a silver player and an iron player in the same game might not have the same skill just shows that you don't really know that your division and mmr are separate. Who is to say the iron player isn't the one with the higher mmr.

Also you talk about someone giving up lots of skills and while it is possible that may affect that player's win rate it is also possible they are employing a risky strategy and actually climbing with say proxy singed, or inting soon or something resulting in lower than usual kills and assists. Ultimately kda, cs/min and other factors are not good indicators in the way that simply using wins and losses is.

They allow Iron to Duo up to silver. Its to cater to casual players.

I used to believe that Riots Duo range was Fking stupid. Found Dev talk for MMR about how you would want to use a single MMR value for premade groups and only use it when they are grouped W each other. So... I still think Riots duoing is bullshit but might be wrong. I still don't like it... Iron to silver but higher up you see Duoing be restricted to 2 Divisions. P1 cant que with D2 but Silver anything can Que with all of Iron, Bronze, Gold.

As probably the most Vocal supporter of Elo/MMR Systems on the boards I think Riots Que times are possibly the issue. I am not sold they use a tight enough range.

That said, a majority of the trashed matches I have are entirely a players fault. Some People just Roll over and not everybody's making the effort to play to win each game.
