Yes. Jannas and Blitzs and various other supports can make or break games with clutch disengages or hooking a high priority target or so forth.

In bronze everyone is sufficiently awful that you can probably just take the kills and be able to both outplay and outdamage the enemy team while retaining the utility that support champs have, and beyond that point teammates get increasingly reliable in their ability to capitalize on the plays you can make as a support, so you're able to consistently win even if your ability to outplay/outdamage carries becomes significantly diminished since the utility you offer becomes more valuable.

Possible? Yes. Easy? No way.

From my personal experience, it took my smurf support account about three times of gaming time to climb to my elo than my smurf mid account.
