Villain mechanic on Garen

I'm hoping either a mod or someone who has tested Garen on the PBE can shed some light on my question, below. The new passive on Demacian Justice (R) reads: "The enemy champion with the most recent kills is the Villain." My concern is, in the middle of a teamfight, Garen will be chasing down a villain and just before he ults, someone else on the enemy team gets a kill and the Villain switches. I imagine this sort of thing is likely to happen all the time.

My question is: will there be a brief lockout between when the Villain switches, or is immediate? If immediate, can one of the devs comment on whether a "lockout" period will be tested before Garen is shipped out to live?

I'd assume it doesn't change until the villain has died? That's just what I think it would be, otherwise it may get confusing for Garen. Dunno myself, upvoted for curiosity though.

Unfortunately it does change. I just played a game where it actually changed as my ult was coming down...

There will likely be some changes coming to make it feel better.

Wow, that really really sucks then. Hoping to see some quick changes about that then. Wouldn't want to play with anything that unpredictable...they'd need an update timer at least.

The good news is the villain mechanic seems to be a pure buff. Every nerf Garen received has an accompanying buff, however the villain mechanic seems to be missing it's paired nerf.

You can still play as if that mechanic doesn't exist and be the paragon of Demacia we all know and love, however this thing, even in it's current state, is just icing on the cake.

Well, that's some shining light at least. Makes me happy that at least someone is trying the new Garen and liking him, despite the awkward part of the villain buff. Though if it's a pure buff then that's pretty cool. Certainly sounds pretty good. Glad you're doing it well and enjoying is. Most people are just whining and complaining about oh no they nerfed Garen into unplayability rito pls! Whereas they've not actually played him yet.
