Every Champion update basically removes an ap buildpath

While I'm on for a champion update, and the update for poppy looks great, in nearly all the previous champion updates, the ad build path became significantly better than the ap one's and the ap buildpath for many of the reworked champions is nearly unviable. To take a look at recent champions: MasterYi AP yi is no longer a thing, while I understand the randomness was toxic, it was still a fun and interesting build. Mordekaiser after his rework, it was actually better to build as an ad tank just cause he did more damage that way. Also because trin force works better too. Poppy with the new rework in the news, it seems she does no magic damage anymore Tristana with the way e functions now, the scaling kinda sucks and ap trist isn't very viable anymore

Basically you get the idea, AP build paths are being taken off, and there's a focus on AD champs instead.

Mordekaiser is building AP and Rageblade AP-hybridy Yi is a thing right now

also because most of these champs had horrible AP builds to play against with minimal counterplay

Rather than that, instead of having all-around hybrids, they might be trying to separate the two paths and have the champions fit roles a bit more. So instead of having the dps deal both physical and magic damage forcing tanks to compromise and stack up both ar and mr, you get one teammate armor up to deal with the AD and another teammate resist the AP. It's just a guess though.

personally hope this is the case hybrids are cancerous have you not seen ap Sion or ap MasterYi or ap Tristana when she had a damage over time ability?

Old champions come from a time where meta didn't exist, so they had both random AD and AP scales since riot didn't know how the champ would be played. After a long time, they started to have a better understanding of how they wanted champs to be played, and they got a better understanding of how people played those randomly placed scaling. Obviously when they rework those champs, they will rework the champ around what gameplay most people prefer. Some champions still have those random ap scaling because they are either healthy, or because there is no established better way to play them.

This video will eplain what I said a lot better ^^ (p.s. this is not really official, but I like to think it like him)

yea, it´s really a worrying trend of Riot to just kill any viable hybrid-champ as soon as they tackle him/her/it...guess they think it makes balancing easier, but i´d happily trade that for more diversity.

?? Poppy's rework does Magic damage.

PASSIVE: IRON AMBASSADOR Every several seconds, Poppy throws her buckler as her basic attack, gaining range and bonus magic damage.

W: STEADFAST PRESENCE Active: Poppy gains Movement Speed. While Steadfast Presence is active, she creates a magic barrier around her, stopping enemy dashes and dealing magic damage to enemies.

Her other skills besides heoric charge doesnt have damage type specifics and we don't know her scaling yet.

AP Tristana should still work, though i'll admit maybe not as strong as AD, but AP should still be viable. Don't forget that her Ultimate still has a very high base with a high ap ratio on it, and her E still has AP scaling as well. Also now that her Rocket jump (which has AP scaling to) resets on Kill/Assist AND when her E proc's, shouldn't AP Tristana technically be even better? Well...I meant AP Tristana should be more viable now than before the 5.22 patch.

On the other hand, how many AP champions have been reworked recently besides Morde? There is currently only a few that were meant to be AP that were made AD. Also, I personally didn't like AP Poppy because it half kind of ruined the entire point of playing her, being to build Trinity Force for the huge bonus magic damage based on AD for big mixed damage that was a lot of damage that was hard to mitigate.
