Can Vel' koz be played top lane?
Hello everyone, I've been playing velcoz for a bit now(level 4) and was wondering if he can handle top. If so, what matchups would work?

I...I don't think it'd be a good idea? Top lane is pretty long and he only has his E to prevent a gank and that's not super hard to avoid so he may be too vulnerable.
He can, but he probably won't get that fed and outside of his E, doesn't really bring much to a team outside of damage, something top laners are typically resistant to. Fiora can parry/get hexdrinker, Riven has shield and will all in you, tanks can rush MR etc.

Depends on the champion you're against. I'd only do it if you were a 
main though. I've done it a few times, but you have to keep your lane lit up like a Christmas tree to avoid the jungler.

yes and no.
hes bad against anyone who can reach him (namely renekton, fiora, riven, etc) but at the same time, you get an ap champ who can poke/zone a melee champ, which is great, and works just as well as lissandra top or sometimes teemo.
the main issue here is he cant escape a gank. like if theres a vi, jarvan, khazix, any jungler with a gap closer, you're just done.
you will be focused, and you will be entirely hit/miss
you're trying to cheese, but just know that once you get behind, you're going to bleed badly.
your only means of escape E, will be flashed over, and you will get CC'd and die.
unless, ya know, you land all your skill shots and make their life hell and force them to back repeatedly and burn their flash so its never available, then good job, you're doing what you have to do to stay relevant.
idk why i am commenting on 9 month old thread but still, velkoz is real good in top lane if played right against anyone other than most assassins. I'm level 7 velkoz and i almost only play him ever top lane or support. like most champs you have just got to know when to use his ult. you can survive ganks with e easily
