I know this has been said a million times: Votekick option in pregame lobby.

AGangPlankMain··24 votes·3,567 views

I don't know about anyone else, but for the past few months, I've noticed an increase in trolls. It went from every few games (A troll every 4 or 5 games) to literally almost every game I have a troll on my team. It all starts in the pre-game lobby too. For instance, as I'm typing this right now, I got matched with a guy who goes "lolololol im dunk asf. to drunk to function" The pre-game lobby right before that, we had a guy on our team talking about being in vietnam and killing a bunch of families for fun. He then proceeds to try to force mid, before another teammate is forced to dodge. Why should players be forced to A: Dodge or B: Go through a troll game when we all know at this point how it's going to turn out.

Most players can tell how a game is going to go just from the pre-game lobby at least I can from my experience in ranked solo queue. I know one of the arguments against this is "People will kick others for no reason" and honestly, I'd rather deal with that just like I think others would too. If a team has you kicked for no reason, chances are they probably were toxic/weren't going to do good anyways. Please, please add this option. Ranked Queue has been unplayable for me lately due to dealing with things like this. I would play team builder or normals, but players don't try in those gamemodes in my opinion.

There are too many flaws with this. Is the game just aborted or does it find a new player to fill in the slot? If it is a dodge, it's not that much better than just dodging normally. How is the new player going to cope with missing the early parts of champion select? Can a premade 4 just keep kicking their 5th over and over again to troll really bad?

Yeah I already said I'd rather get kicked for that, then deal with the trolls. Just like I've seen many others say they'd rather deal with that.

People say that now, then said feature gets added, then people complain not being able to play off meta things and whine that Riot doesn't want things outside of the meta not being played.

No, people know what they want. People would rather avoid trolls all together and not have to be forced to sit through a troll game because it's a waste of time.

Just like how people wanted an ARAM map, and then whined about how people dodged or had accounts for only poke champions.

Or how people whined for a team builder, but then whined about the long queues times and it not also being in ranked

Or how people whine for nerfs for a champion they hate, only for another champion they hate to take his place.

People have no idea what they want, nor do they see the consequences of it until the system gets implemented.

Edit: No one likes trolls, that goes without saying, but you said it yourself, this game is full of trolls, and as such, trolls are just going to turn the system on its head. In a game with a troll, oh, they will just lie and say you were the troll instead. We need a system to handle them sure, this however isn't it.

What makes you think that's the same exact people who originally wanted those things? Like others have said, you can't please everybody which is what that is.

Then let's implement a system that isn't abusable that the only people who will ever be able to complain will be the trolls, not one that can just as easily get turned on its head and give trolls another weapon.

I don't know, that being said, throwing out a system with flaws just for the sake of getting a system, isn't a good idea.

I never got specific with it. Like many of the things on these forums, the ideas can be built upon. It also isn't "just for the sake of getting a system" it's for the sake of handling trolls before the game starts. Literally most of your points had nothing to do with the flaws of the system tbh. The only valid one was people getting votekicked when they don't deserve it.

You brought up irrelevant things about people saying they want it now, but then when it happens they won't like it. That's not a valid argument.

What I'm saying is people begging for systems without seeing the implications because they are blind sided by the pros, then flip and whine about the cons that were clearly there, exactly like the system you suggest. Yes, you will get people get some trolls, and then you will punish people who have perfectly good intentions just because there are people who refuse to accept anything accept the meta that the pros put in place. You are saying to implement a system that can just as easily be abused by the same trolls you want to get rid of.

The thing is there's always going to be that flaw of having the potential to be kicked for no reason because of the community which is what you fail to realize. You can keep saying smart ass answers, but it isn't going to be perfect, just like the punishment system isn't. Just like the afk system isn't. I seriously doubt having to have 4 people vote yes to kick you will result in much more problems then going into a troll game itself. I've seen people at the higher level go out of the meta and no one cared.

I'm going to say it one final time, I'm not saying your system is bad, and shouldn't be implemented IN SOME WAY, I'm saying, you laid a baseline, a baseline that has just as much trouble and can just as easily be abused to the people it should be punishing. HOW do we IMPROVE on the baseline you set? HOW do we implement it so people can't be getting unfairly punished by the same trolls you don't want to deal with.

If 4 people don't want you to pick weak champion ABC...

...then don't pick weak champion ABC. Or do you intentionally want to sink team morale just for the sake of picking something no one wants you to pick?

"What is that, playing Mordekaiser instead of Syndra, alright guy's kick him, obviously trolling."

"Playing MF over Caitlyn, kick him."

"Playing Taric instead of Sona or Nami, kick him."

Deep Terror Nami3 votes

I feel like I'm the only one that understands that people often get mad when someone won't pick what they think is "meta", and giving them the ability to kick and penalize those is a bad idea.

CheckMyDoubles2 votes

This is the common counter argument when this idea is brought up. There is nothing wrong with experimentation or breaking the meta, but think of it this way.

If the other four players DON'T want you to play that champion in that role, what makes it okay for you to do so? If you feel like playing Zed support and the rest of your team thinks it's a terrible idea, why should their experience be negatively impacted by you wanting to be different? Maybe the next lobby will be okay with it. The vote would need to be unanimous and I think the ability to remove trolls and toxic players before a game starts would be well worth it.

It's not fair that the person who is causing the dodges in the first place is never punished and just advances to the next lobby while other players are forced to wait out a timer or lose LP.

Deep Terror Nami3 votes

I'm not really saying this idea can't be worked on, but as is it will do a lot of harm.

The benefits are quite obvious; kick the trolls before they ruin your game.

But the downside is making biased and angry players the judge, jury, and executioner on the spot with only a single instance of interaction to make their decision. Riot has to try and punish as few undeserving players as possible.

I think a "Karma/Reputation" system added to this might work; as in, if you are toxic/trolling people may downvote you (separate from a report) after the match, and if you're a team-player/kind people upvote you. Once you're too far in the negative, a unanimous vote from those in good standing may remove you from pre-game lobbies. Get what I'm saying?

AGangPlankMain1 votes

I like that idea, but I don't see it working at all especially in this community where people will report/down vote you because of everything but your attitude. Sure you'll have players who are honest and won't abuse it, but I don't see the majority doing that. For instance, I regularly use Gangplank as support much to the chagrin of others. No matter how good I do (I'd say when I go gp support I end up carrying my adc 80% of the time) if we lose the game, I get reported for going "troll support". Like I said I like the idea, but that has potential to be abused even more then the votekicking.

I've only been bronze and silver, so I don't know how much people want the meta to be enforced in the higher elos. From my personal experience though most people don't get too mad about people who don't follow the meta. I say I'd get the person who goes "NOOB GANGPLANK SUCKS THIS META" every 10 matches (I'm being generous when I say every 10 matches too)

Deep Terror Nami3 votes

Wait wait wait...

You think a reputation built over time from many players is bad...but straight up kicking them the first time you meet is good? You don't see the contradiction here?

AGangPlankMain1 votes

No you misread what I said. I said It's a great idea, but people would abuse that worse than they would the votekick in my opinion. You're now putting what you want to think in my mouth.

Deep Terror Nami1 votes

Noooo. You just said it again.

people would abuse that worse than they would the votekick

How in the world would many bad reputation votes being required FIRST before people can kick you be worse than a single lobby group deciding to kick you the first time they meet without having any indication of if you normally troll or are unable to play properly?

AGangPlankMain1 votes

I already explained why I think it wouldn't work it. There's many people who would down vote you just because. If I get downvoted just because and can't have a say in a votekick when it comes to dealing with a troll then I'd have a problem with that. Also what your asking is opinionated. I wouldn't mind getting kicked out of a lobby with no indication of being a troll as I previously stated. You guys are twisting what I'm saying now for no reason. I said it was a good idea, but I feel that would be abused.

You're not going to force me to agree with you lol. It's my opinion, you don't have to agree with me just like I don't have to agree with you. Is it a good idea in general? Yes. Is it a good idea in this community, I don't think so. Just like you don't think the votekicking isn't.

Deep Terror Nami2 votes

sigh

You never explained anything.

I'm really stupid or blind so please say it again; I want to know, exactly, why you think it wouldn't work.

With my proposed reputation system added, a downvote won't get you kicked. A unanimous set of downvotes won't kick you. You must have many downvotes from many other players spanning many games and not enough upvotes, then and only then will people have the ability to use your kick system.

With your proposed system only, people can kick you with no warning whatsoever in any match you join regardless of whether you are generally toxic or trolly or not.

My system is an additional buffer that would at the least possible effectiveness, still get in the way of people getting unwarranted kicks.

It is literally impossible for people to abuse the reputation system, only the kick system. If you still don't think so, you have an idea in your head about it that is not congruent with the reality of what it is.

When did I call you stupid or blind? I feel like you're getting mad because I'm not blindly agreeing with your point. I'm allowed to disagree just like you are. Don't try to force me into agreeing with your point though lol. I already said it. People would down vote you just to do it. People already report others just to do it, what makes you think they wouldn't do the same thing with the down votes? (Not that I've ever been banned)

With my proposed reputation system added, a downvote won't get you kicked. A unanimous set of downvotes won't kick you. You must have many downvotes from many other players spanning many games and not enough upvotes, then and only then will people have the ability to use your kick system.

Listen to me. I get what you're proposing, I think it's a good idea, just not for the community. You'll still have people especially trolls who will down vote others just to do it. I don't think it will make too much of a difference. You think it's going to be a good answer, and I don't see it. One of your points to counter "my system" (Even though it's not my system, has been implemented into many other games, and others on the forums have asked for this) was that people would kick others because they disagree with your pick or just because. People would down vote for whatever reason other than you being a troll. Which you don't seem to understand where I'm coming from with that.

With your proposed system only, people can kick you with no warning whatsoever in any match you join regardless of whether you are generally toxic or trolly or not.

Once again, I understand that, a risk others and me are willing to take. I've seen people make the same exact point that you people seem to keep ignoring and that is if people votekick you for a stupid reason, chances are they are toxic towards the team anyways. I also never got specific with how the vote kicking would work. I feel there should be a topic on how it would work where the community comes together to find a way to get it to work.

My system is an additional buffer that would at the least possible effectiveness, still get in the way of people getting unwarranted kicks.

You said it yourself "at the least possible effectiveness still get in the way of people getting unwarranted kicks" the least possible effectiveness would be the equivalent to it being not effective at all. I hope you think about this for a couple of minutes.

It is literally impossible for people to abuse the reputation system, only the kick system. If you still don't think so, you have an idea in your head about it that is not congruent with the reality of what it is.

It is very possible for people to abuse the reputation system. What are the down votes being reviewed or something? Otherwise I don't see how it is impossible for it to be abused.

The same reason you think the votekicking is a bad idea or get abused, is the same reason I think the down voting players would be a bad idea. I feel like others would get unfairly downvoted and still lead to players getting votekicked for no reason. If this was counter strike or some other game, I'd fully agree. You can re-word it and ask me again, but I'm going to give you the same exact answer. Accept it.

Deep Terror Nami1 votes

Still not one example of how getting a reputation downvote by a troll is worse and can be abused more than getting kicked by the troll. GG.

This thread again

Consider this: Kicking somebody would have to have consequences (probably to the player kicked) because otherwise it could be used as a free dodge every time your team is out-picked, which anybody who played when dodging had zero consequences knows is a horrible idea. Hello 30 minute queue times.

Scenario 1) "Their team outpicked us, we won't win, kick out team captain for not banning X" Team would vote yes if the enemy team had a better team comp to avoid the loss, with only the poor sod who got kicked taking any penalties.

  1. "This guy is bronze X, I just lolkinged him, kick him or we lose" You're kidding yourself if you don't think this would happen regularly.

  2. "This guy is on a bad losing streak, kick him, he'll cost us the game" Again, people would kick for this. And unlike #2, they would probably increase their own winning % by kicking the poor guy on a losing streak.

  3. "Pick X or we kick" This happens already. "Pick X or we report". Then the game ends and they mindlessly report the guy who didn't pick top-tier champion X.

etc etc

And you want to know the worst part? People would be rewarded for kicking innocent people out of the game whenever their team is at a disadvantage. Their own rank would increase by abusing this awful system you want to put into place and screwing over countless numbers of their teammates by kicking them and forcing them to eat a penalty and have to requeue while the guy abusing it gets to a do-over on champion select.
