The issue with low elo ranked
Players being AFK aren't as much an issue as having bad teammates. Some people will try to say "It's a team game and everyone is at fault". While once in a while this can be true, when the enemy mid laner is 6/0 12 minutes into the game, they have free reign to crush not only mid, but top and bot lane as well. Having one bad player will put the whole team behind, not just them. Having a teammate who constantly roams around and dies means 4v5 team fights for your team. Having a player who builds the wrong items means no help when it comes to fighting at dragon or pushing out lanes. And the real issue with this is that being bronze/silver means they aren't going to get better. A lot of people will say "communicate more as a team" or "help them get back into the game" or "learn how to play from behind". Imagine playing a game of baseball never having played baseball before. You'd most likely miss all your swings, pitch terribly and drop the ball often. That's the bad player on your team. Now with one message in the chat and a couple instructions, try to make them a better baseball player. The reality is, is that it takes practice to become better. While players in gold/plat have the game knowledge to know how to play from behind or get themselves back in the game, bronze/silver players do not. If they didn't know how to hold their own in lane, if they didn't know that they should have been helping the team get dragon instead of farming, if they didn't know not to 1v5 dive the other team to get first blood, they aren't going to magically become an amazing league player that knows what to do later in the game. So the issue with ranked is that when your teammates are "bad", they're gonna be bad the whole game. And when your teammates are "good" most likely they will play with the same skill level all game. Bronze/silver ranked games are won solely based on your teammates skill levels, rather than your ability to play as a team. If everyone in the game has basic game knowledge, the games are centered around working together to win. But when most players in bronze/silver don't have those basic skills, winning and losing becomes a game of chance based on which team gets stuck with worse players. This isn't to complain about bad teammates, but rather to point out that the reason that bronze/silver ranked elo is hard to get out of is because wins and losses are random based on the teammates you get stuck with from champion select rather than everyone's collective ability to work together to win a game.
