does it matter if you play ranked during preseason??

so im plat 2 now. when the new season starts does your placements games go off what we were at when the season ended or what they are currently at? so lets say im diamond come next season and do my promos. will it go off that or what im at now ???

it will only effect your MMR

It affects the MMR at which you will start playing when you can do your placements.

so essentialy if im diamond + my mmr should be higher correct? so there is a point to play ranked still? so my mmr will be higher come placements?
