placement
last season I was in solo/duo queue Silver 1. This season I won 7 out of 10 games and ended Silver 3. How does this whole placement system work, because I thought i would end in gold because I did pretty well.

The placements honestly don't matter. Last season, I won 8 out of 10 games, hard stomping. Placed me in B5; I climbed my way up to Silver 3 by the end of the season and kind of stopped playing. This season, I hadn't played in over a month due to moving, christmas, and lack of internet. I went into my placements my first day back and lose 8 out of 10 games, hard inting, lol. Placed me S5. Placements don't matter and are a joke.
My MMR in last season was around 2200 (Diamond 5), now i played placements (went 7/3) and placed in Gold 2. I was like WTF, why i droped so low? I didnt play for almost a year (since November 2017) which means i didnt play during preseason. Is it because i didnt play during presason or? I thought with 7/3 i can fall below plat 5 but i guess i can....just dont understand why so low. It looks like placements dont matter much. If i went 2/8 or 1/9 i think i would be placed in gold 3 or 4...almost same as going 7/3. Some ppl are saying old MMR + 1200 divided by 2 gives you starting position, some say order of wins (like if you won first 2 or 3 games is rly important than wining last 3) , some say grades in game (S,A,B...) are also giving you MMR, some say if you are carried in game you wont be placed high....etc There is so many theorys about this but no real explanation from RIOT member or moderator!
