First match of the season ends with horrendous matchmaking

I get paired with a jungler who afk farms and lets the opponent jungler rule the map as she sees fit.

My top laner Nasus goes 0/4 in lane and has only 300 stacks by the end of 45 minutes.

The jungler and top laner constantly walk into the opponent's jungle to feed kills and do nothing else for the rest of the match. They don't defend the nexus, don't try to contest the baron and instead leave it to the mid and two bot laners to try and steal it by themselves, and the Nasus being the only tanky frontliner afk farms all game long never to get over 300 stacks. Not to mention he runs from Zed while having an Iceborn Gauntlet and bramble vest on himself instead of defending turrets.

And the result of it all? I get placed in Iron II despite my stellar performance in the game where I tried every bit to carry the match and had not just an amazing KDA but also roamed and ganked the hell out of lanes while also rendering my own laner useless.

This is not a rant post but a reflection of what this game has become.

I tried my hard to carry, I really did. I even typed it out in chat over and again and begged for the jungler and top help us out but they didn't budge. My bot tried hard but as it stands a bot laner can walk out of lane 8/0 and still die in two hits. Sadly we weren't able to win the game and were held hostage because the other two wouldn't surrender either.

I only played this season to give LoL another chance but looks like I am leaving LoL behind with season 9 being my last. Season 10 is only going to be an amalgamation of everything which was wrong with season 9.

"I lost one game where I wasn't the reason we lost - this is not a rant I swear"

Just play more. It's called a reset for a reason. Diamond players get placed in Gold and Plat. Gold players get shot down to Bronze. That's where I am probably going to start since I ended gold. If you could climb higher than where you ended in 10 games then the ranking system would be busted. Ending silver you were basically guaranteed an iron rank.

Match making is horrendous.

How is the matchmaking system supposed to know how people are going to perform in a given game?

General Esdeath 1/10/2020, 9:52:21 PM4 votes

Why you asking for reports though?

The placement is grossly lower then needed to compensate for demotion protection being massively higher then needed.

Your going to need to lose 9 more games to keep that iron rank and even then its unlikely your even gonna have iron MMR.

you're going to see ridiculous LP gains.

anyway unlucky dude, but it's still the expected experience right.

Salty Mc Feed1/10/2020, 7:04:49 PM2 votes

...and if you had won you would maybe be iron III

Just play more games.

Literally none of this is matchmaking.

You think matchmaking fucking places people who decide to do dumbass shit on your team intentionally? Before literally anyone knows they're going to do dumbass shit?

The iron is your provisional rank. It's the absolute lowest you can possibly get if you never win another match. That's what it's fucking for.

You still have 9 games to go. And you shouldn't be placed Gold if you were silver last season.

Hordes661/11/2020, 5:32:46 PM1 votes

Missing information: What was your rank last season?

RyzeRework1/10/2020, 8:31:06 PM1 votes

Let's talk about that ashe with smite tho lol

Matchmaking is terrible. Tweet comments like this at Mark Ytter. Edit: Not sure this game was a matchmaking issue. Both teams had 3 feeders, the overall kda scores were fairly close.

I mean it sounds about right to me. Every season I actually participated in rank i was always lower in rank than what I had finished in previous seasons. I finished Gold season 9, so I fully expect my placement ranking to be somewhere between bronze or silver this time around. And the first match only gives you a placeholder rank, so if you do well in the latter games you'll likely go higher. I know games can be frustrating (i feel it sometimes too), but if you reached silver last season I'm sure you'll get there again (and maybe even reach higher). So don't let the one game deter you too much.

I got paired with a never before ranked player starting the new season on our side with a previous plat level mid laner on the other side.

It didn't go so badly, but over time they kept making mistakes and eventually the enemy team had too big a lead.

Catastroclysm1/11/2020, 1:21:21 AM1 votes

You were silver last season, and you wanted to place gold after provisionals? I'm pretty confident that's impossible homie. You gotta grind and improve, not just luck out in your first few games lol.

You can or at least used to be able to get gold off provisionals ON A FRESH ACCOUNT, but on an account with already bad mmr it's just not gonna happen.

Plus even then if you dont deserve gold you probably won't stay gold unless you stop playing. In which case you aren't REALLY a gold player anyway.

Tbh just have fun and try and improve. Focus on things like CSing, and dying less. You'll rank up naturally if you're improving, and it will be much less stressful on you.

Placements don't matter.

gimmieninja1/11/2020, 5:53:44 AM1 votes

you dont get your final placement until the end of the ten matches, they just update you as to where you are currently standing after each change (wins go up losses stay the same)
