Yuumi is disappionting.

Her Q does as much damage as a soraka Q. Her heal is like Sonas- just more cooldown. Her Ult is just a worse Sona Ult.

Impact is like zero.

You need to give her her own strength Riot. Her own niche.

Either make her a roaming supp - increase her W range to 3000 so she can hop on and off between lanes (and give that a long range a good cooldown) (her book is magical after all)

It would look like this:

Give her a New Passive: "Empowered Bookportal" : Yuumis W Ranges increases to 3000; Cooldown: 90 S. and attach her original passive to her E: New Passive: When yumi auto attacks she gains a shield.

OR Make her a Poke-Support with good Q damage

OR give her Ult some better mechanics. If she hits enemys with her Ult 3 times they get rooted PLUS receive a debuff. If an ally attacks them they are stunned for X seconds. It would be enough if its just 0.5 sec stun. AND increase the Q slow like lulus q slow.

Thanks you,

a support Main that was so hyped about yuumi (because I main Abbathur in HotS) and is really sad now. [sg-soraka]

Giving W 3000 range, are you nuts? This champion would become absolutely unkillable with that range, since it is very likely that she will find an ally to hop on if she ever gets spotted in a bad position.

I think the best direction (IF a buff is needed, we still have to see how proplay is using her... her W could become a really strong tool in that environment), then adding something to her ultimate seems like the best direction for me. Damage is pretty disappointing right now and while her big AoE root is actually quite strong, I think the ultimate has still a bit of room to get improved.

If she's saving W to save herself then she's not using it to impact other lanes. (OP did mention giving it a long cooldown)

Problem with giving W a long cooldown is that her entire kit is basically centered around this skill. There is a reason Yuumi is starting the game with this skill already learned. If you give the skill a long cooldown, then you basically have to redesign her completely.

AbiwonKenabi1 votes

Agree. I don't think they can change W drastically. It is literally the lynch pin of her kit, its like Azir's Soldier skill. Change it drastically and he's suddenly a different champion.

I think the passive is a better candidate for change/buffs. Encourage Yuumi players to flit on and off of allies instead of remaining attached the whole game. She has to decide when to auto and use her passive, or when to attach to her ADC. Makes her more vulnerable and gives her a point of mastery.

Illabethe4 votes

It's horribly small range for solo/duo queue. Players DO NOT GET CLOSE ENOUGH TO HER FOR HER TO USE IT. Players in solo/duo play in ways that look out for save themselves, and that doesn't mean trying to stay near Yuumi's current ride. Nor does it mean grouping up to take massive aoes, which actually are larger than Yuumi's W range...... (like Zigg's Ult)

3000 is too far. 500 range is too small.

AbiwonKenabi1 votes

Yeah I guess I could see that. While playing her, I was reminded of Rakan's Battle Dance (E), and even that has a range of 700 on non-Xayah. Same with Lee Sin's Safeguard, 700 range. I could see that being a slight buff to increase her usability and also put her in line with similar abilities.

Edit: Even Braum's Stand Behind Me has 650. I'm starting to think you are right, it shouldn't be so small. I was more implying it shouldn't be 3000, near Nocturne ult range.

The difference with those are they are just dashes with a shield, where as yuumis is an invunrability and a granted shield (potentially) and damage. The reduced range is kinda warranted when you look at what it gives from a stat balance point of view

Handy Sandy 1 votes

I think it's small because she's untargetable while holding onto someone. She probably wasn't intended to weave in and out of a fight with it like how rakan can, and instead really commit to 1 person which makes her more different than rakan.

Disulfiram1 votes

Mmm... what about giving it a cast time and cooldown depending on the range it was casted at, instead? I mean:

  • use W on a champion in the same screen -> normal cast time and cooldown
  • use W on another lane -> immense cooldown and cast time (= can't use it to escape and can't use it to support all lanes + jungle at the same time)

You didn't read the whole post. It has a 3000 range every 90 seconds and remains the same otherwise.

well it has to have a good cooldown of course. that she can jump 3000 every X seconds and other than that just usal range.

General Matty1 votes

Sure it could save her one time, but an ability like that would be put on a very long CD, so she won't be able to use it 24/7. Plus you could make it a channel so that way she can't just nope out of a bad situation.

Akali Prime1 votes

its not like she can solo ANY of your teammates anyways. let her be unkillable. who cares.

Daedric Etwahl9 votes

I'm personally iffy about the idea of her Q ever doing too much damage because how would you reasonably avoid it? Run through your minions? With creep block being the way it is who knows if that would even work. It might just put you in a position to be attacked by Yuumi's adc. Meanwhile Yuumi herself is untargetable

Illabethe1 votes

Her Q has a larger hitbox than Morgana's Q. It literally hits minions from outside of 300 pixels. So um..... yeah. It also deals so little damage it can NEVER set up any kind of viable kill or farm. It has no purpose.

I actually REALLY like the idea of giving yuumi the ability to attach to a really far away champ but only if the long attach has a separate cooldown like 300 seconds. The "short" attach would still work the exact same way, but you can only "far" attach to each champion once every 300 seconds. It would be similar to how sylas cant steal ult from the same champ within a certain time frame, or how yas cant dash to the same unit without a separate cooldown.

BLIGHTBRINGER3 votes

She should have a Global Teleport Ability, i'm shocked that they haven't considering the theme with her teleporting to places with Book.

Atleast then she would have global pressure/presence ways of supporting quicker than other supports.

Chembaron Yamada2 votes

Champions with global teleport abilities tend to be major balance problems in organised play, tho. Shen, Tahm Kench, Rek'Sai with old ult. Especially if you think about keeping her attach mechanic, this most likely had ended up as the next unbalancable champion which gets gutted because of proplay.

BLIGHTBRINGER1 votes

I know, but it's almost core of her character considering how Book and Yuumi work together. Btw why is it that champions in DOTA with similar abilities (like global tp) have no such huge fuss in regards to how it will affect pro play?

Chembaron Yamada1 votes

True, it is actually weird that she has a book in the lore, which lets her travel through portals all over the place, yet she has no teleport whatsoever in her kit when it comes to gameplay. Huge disconnect between gameplay and lore fantasy here.

I don't know a thing about DOTA, so I can't make an educated comment about that. ^^

BLIGHTBRINGER2 votes

That's fair enough, but it just sucks that we can't have cool things in the game just because it will be too strong for pro-play.

Sherogarth1 votes

Because in DOTA balance is handled in a different way. For every "op" ability there is similary "op" counter ability or counter pick. This approach leads to situations where a S tier hero can be hard countered by a F tier hero and this F tier hero will sit forever in his F tier because it's only role and niche in the entire game is to hard counter this one and only S tier hero. Therefore a hero X can be extremaly strong in unorganized play but when it comes to the pros they know that hero Y makes him useless so they dont even bother picking hero X unless they have a strat for it (ex. hero Z who hard counters hero Y).

Rito decided that they want every champion somewhat viable at every lvl of play. That leads to the situation that whenever there is an OP champion usually all pros can do is to ban it away. And this results in one team "wasting" thier ban on a champion that is OP and not using it as a strategic tool.

lol 3000 range.

No.

Ragamffin2 votes

My way of thinking is shes already weak af and that's to balance out how op being not targetable for forever along with jumping from ally to ally as much as wanted is. But honestly, that's too busted. No matter how much I like yuumi this is too much. So my way of seeing how she can be improved are:

  1. give w 3 charges each takes a min to come back but she can stay on as long as she wants. Also reword the passive because it becomes obsolete in this case
  2. let w be infinite jumps but make the not being targeted have a duration ex 15 seconds. Passive makes sense here, gives a reason to detach in the first place. These are my ideas for how to improve her W (ofc you'd have to raise the stats a bit)

For q:

  1. Change from slow to a root (ofc you'd have to change the ult to a stun or something after 4 waves in this case)
  2. If the enemy gets hit from the q after 1 second in flight they get marked. Getting hit 3 times causes Stun/ Root for x duration
  3. Give q some more damage Those are basically my ideas....I see yuumi as a champ with a kit full of debuffs that will be amazing for peeling for the adc. Tell me what you think about my suggestions.
ZeroSixTeen2 votes

Has to be the most r%%%%%ed shit I have ever seen, paired with a bruiser she can make him immortal with the heals. her ult is insane, both a lot a dmg and snares for literally everyone. her q is impossible to miss and deals more damage than soraka q. but so what? imagine if sorakas q was targeted and she hitw you with it every time its off cd. This champ is fucking horseshit. sits there and makes urgot immortal at the same time hitting you from across the map with 200 dmg every 5 seconds. after 3 hits you have got any carry down to half health.

Linna Excel1 votes

No 3000 range W please. There's just not enough counterplay to that. If this was her ult ability, riot might be able to get away with it, but she'd have to have been built up completely around large jump potential. I don't really think the live balance team has enough resources to rework her around a 3000 range W even if they wanted to.

Anyways, I think the Yuumi as Abbathor comparisons the community was making before her release really set up a bad expectation for her. LOL and HOTS are two different games and riot was both probably aware of the champ and trying to keep yuumi as far away from that champ as they could. Yuumi-ow is a cat with a book and not some brain covered in glowing boogers; you can't expect them to be the same.

So true! Couldn't agree more!

NTrumpWeTrust1 votes

Her Q dmg needs to be buffed and her auto range needs to be increased slightly. If they don't want her to be a poke support, then she needs to do something else. Making her heal, while attached, an AoE heal maybe the size of Tarics(?) could be a step in the right direction. As it is now, the highest winrate build for her is not even leveling W at all and just going for a poke style lane. I would imagine they made her weak on purpose because they weren't quite sure how good/bad her attaching mechanic would be.

HOLY SHIT I DIDN'T KNOW THERE WAS A HEROESCINEMA AND IT'S BEEN 5 YEARS?

BrokenRayquaza1 votes

Honestly give the q a better AP ratio (not even in general, just empowered would probably still work) and take away that dumb thing where her ult damage decreases everytime you hit a wave and I think she would be ok people just have to play her more

Glaricion1 votes

OP: Out of curiosity, did you use Murky as a palate cleanser champion? They're similar in that their passives require you to put yourself at risk to make the most of their passives, but rewards you heavily for making smart plays w/ it.

Thread: No clue why OP is getting mass downvoted for the W range being 3k on a long cooldown since mobility summoner spells are troll-tier on Yuumi.

Would love to see what adjustments could be made to her kit to balance her both in strength and in feel-satisfaction. Just really worried that, due to Yuumi being untargetable for long periods of time, anything that increases her strength will be much stronger than intended.

FlameHalbrdOkido1 votes

I'd like to her her become more SHIELD focused thats pretty much the big focus on her kit with the attach and all, make the shield mechanics more interesting

maybe it stacks with each W cast so u can strategically chain dashes so its stronger on the right champ RIGHT when u need it

RavenMagus1 votes

Yuumi is fun and rather good.

She has a passive. You need to hop on and off sometimes. Do so, the shield is good, and extra auto is extra damage.

She isn't as flash reliant because you can hop on your ally to dodge things. You can bring a second combat summoner to turn early fights.

her W is really strong, and I mean the passive on it. Don't ignore it as "that thing to level last because you have to". Level it earlier, build more AP than you're used to; the passive strength is very strong.

I actually think she is quite good right now. She needs a different mindset than usual and there are plenty of hidden intricacies in her kit.

I really want to say, "Ladies and gents, this is why Riot doesn't listen to us when it comes to balancing changes."

But giving a champion the ability to freely hop 3000 range as a passive seems like something Riot's incompetent champion design team would do.
