Chat ban/ Ranked game bans

I don't see why riot is using all these punishments right before the season ends. Like at least do it when a new season starts. I believe there shouldn't be a ranked game ban or chat ban, cause proabably 50% or more is probably toxic, and if you keep giving them these pathetic bans, Us people who are getting banned can just find another game that doesn't have these retarded rules. League would probably loose more than half their players if this happens. Instead of giving a ban to toxic people, there should be a reward for non-toxic people. So people would be "motivated" and not be so toxic. These bans are a joke. Ranked game bans? Chat restrictions? This isn't grade school no more. This is a game, accept the fact that there will be Ragers/trolls in the game. To be honest this game was great back in season 2 but now all these updates are ruining the game a bit.

They should've done that before a season started then. Not when a season is about to end. People go through bronze and takes a while and grt above it and then riot just randomly brings these bans and says if you got them you can't get season rewards.

It is a punishment for poor behavior.

A punishment isn't a punishment unless it has a notable penalty. If denying you (and many players like you) season rewards is the only way to make it clear that your behavior is unacceptable, then I support Riot fully in doing so.

Learn to act in an acceptable manner, or suffer the consequences. It's really that simple.

To be frank, in many face-to-face competitive hobbies (tournaments) your sort of behavior would result in immediate suspension from the hosting group or removal from a tournament. Why should LoL be any different?

Let's not be naive, these new ranked bans are just a way for riot to keep making money. Before you would get an outright and ban and couldn't even log into the client. Now you can log in play normals and keep buying skins and champs, so riot can keep on going.

The rules are there for a reason. Lyte and other Riot employees have already said if you are toxic they don't want you in this game. They are willing to give you chances to improve and become not toxic but if you can't improve they(RIOT) don't want you here.

I happen to agree with reasons and application of these rules. If you tried half the stuff people get away with online in this game in real life you would have a lot more to deal with then getting banned from a game. I can't even count how many games I have been in where the behaviors displayed could result in a criminal action.

Threats are a crime. Harassment is a crime. Damaging property(ddos) is a crime. Someday the legal system will fully catch up to the internet age.

Your right this is not grade school so maybe we can stop acting like it and act like adults and accept that when we break a rule there are consequences. Accept that our actions lead to results either good or bad. Even my 6 yr old son understands that when you break a rule there are consequences.

Funny. I didn't do anything most of the time. I usually get teamed with a premade or duo and they decide to report me for no reason.

I can say that based off your original post and using the term "retarded" so casually tells me that you may be violating the summoner's code without even realizing it. This chat restriction and ban from rank doesn't solve anything but anger your players. This is honestly the dumbest thing I have ever seen on this game.

First of all, this chat restriction is so stupid. The ONLY thing this chat restriction does is cause more anger and built up frustration because you can't communicate and you can't explain yourself when your team ask why you did something if you don't have any stupid talk points. I havent been able to enjoy this game at all because of this chat restriction that keeps adding onto my account. I finished a 200 chat restriction, RIGHT after a 350 game chat restriction pops up. This has to be a joke. This system is a joke and banning people from playing ranked is a joke. This is a competitive game, I am a competitive player, if someone cant follow simple task I tend to get mad, if they don't want to hear me yell they can MUTE ME, is that not why you have the MUTE function!?!? Instead of everyone relying on the report system to get some one in trouble they should mute them and be done with it. How about instead of chat restriction, players who are toxic have a red mark over their name or something and it advises players to mute that toxic player because he is known for being toxic.

Second, the "win 35 normal games to go back to ranked" thing is DUMB. NO ONE takes NORMALS seriously, im the ONLY one on my team trying as hard as if its ranked and everyone else is just not giving any shits at all. Most of the people in there go practice new champs and just don't care about a lost. ALL that does is get me mad and tell them to stop feeding, then they say "ITS NORMAL HUE IT DON'T MATTER", then I start to be toxic and guess what? I'M reported and I get 3000 more chat restriction games to my account. This is ridiculous, I can't communicate, I get three messages, and I cant say anything to anyone in all chat about the game. This game is built on team work but I cant even communicate. Pings dont do anything, can pings tell my team to ward baron? Can pings tell my team WarWicks ult is down? Theirs plenty more pings can NOT do.

Theirs always going to be competitive players that are "Underground" players as Microsoft names them. Set up some time of category or something, because this chat restriction and game bans don't fix a thing at all. And i'm not going over this and fixing any punctuation because i'm on tilt right now. I have to win 31 games to get back into ranked and im the only one in normal taking the game seriously, AND I still have a 250 game chat restriction.

It's solving a lot. I have noticed a considerable decline in toxic chat/players in recent games and it's really quite nice. An out-of-line person here or there, but I just report them and move on.

The chat and ranked bans will work and they will work in one of two ways:

The punished person will change their ways because they can't stand being constantly banned. -Happier players
The punished person will stop playing LoL because they refuse to change and they can't stand being constantly banned. -Happier players

No, you're completely wrong here. Driving away players is a ridiculous concept for a happier fan base especially when League needs to be expanding in order to make money. He's completely right about the mute function, if you're too dim to press a single button and not have to deal with said toxic person you're probably the reason people get so angry.

Chat bans are fine and I feel Ive done a lot better when my chat is restricted, but ranked bans are fucking ridiculous. I've already played up to level 30 and have played all my placement matches, I shouldn't have to do this all over again. Also if it's the tribunal deciding the punishment lengths then riot needs to get its shit together because I know I haven't done anything to justify a 38 game rank ban. Whenever new punishments come out the tribunal goes crazy like a kid on Christmas. There is no justification for a ranked game ban, if someone has done something so bad that they should have their play restricted it should just be an outright ban. I haven't said anything racist or homophobic, so I really don't get this ridiculous rank ban. I get people who troll outright, feed on purpose, and constantly dc, and you expect me not to get mad. People need to understand that normals are for messing around and ranked is for serious competitive play and that restricting people who call out the goddamn trolls isn't going to solve anything and only drive away more competitive players. People wonder why NA ranked is so troll and I'm telling you this is why, the trolls aren't punished the people who call them out are.

Not only are these ranked bans stupid they're also and obvious attempt to keep people who should be outright time banned playing and buying more skins and champs.

I also don't understand why it's so hard for so many players to just press one button to mute people.

I agree with op. My point of view is different though. If I am in a game the only time I say something in chat is if I am trying to promote teamwork ( lets do dragon or group top and push) That is it. The problem is if some troll or rager on your team isnt doing well and you say something like this they get mad at you and something like F$%K you noob we cant do dragon. This makes everyone mad and most people would just ignore him but not me. I respond and let him know that he is being toxic and not helping the team win. Usually I end up muting them and reporting them after the game. But they will ALWAYS report you back. Never fails they will report everyone on the team if they arent sure who it was. So when I get chat restricted and I've never cussed someone out or said racist remarks like I see I can only assume I'm getting restricted for trying to convince these trolls to stop flaming. With out any human interaction involved in these auto bans people are just getting chat restricted and ranked bans left and right because they reported a troll and got reported back. Back in the tribunal players could see that the person that reported me was actually the one flaming and I was just trying to get them to stop and I would get pardoned. Their is no pardon with this auto system. You are automatically guilty as soon as the troll reports you back.

TL:DR getting reported for reporting a flamer gets you chat restricted and ranked ban, its a broken automated system with no human interaction involved. Bring back tribunal

This didnt effect me at all as I got my rewards but I still think the way Riot went about this was terrible. They shouldnt change the rules of the game so close to the end of the season. They should have used something like this as an incentive for players to behave better but because they sprung this new rule on everyone so close to the end of the season it had no effect on player behavior. It was just a punishment. Such a waste of an opportunity.

Also as someone who had designed and run games, randomly springing new rules on your players at the last minute is a grossly unprofessional practice. If there is such a thing as "gaming ethics" this sort of thing would violate them.

Then again, most of Riots "improve player behavior initiatives" are poorly thought out and implemented, so why should this be any different.

I am playing lol 1 year and some months now and what really mateers about me is to play ranked and see my lvl and my skills and i cant do this because i have to win 35 draft pick normal games.....thats not fair guys. Chat banns seem to me very fair cause when u toxic u get that bann and u cant flame them anymore that much in gameplay but even cant speak to them and plan ur win but for me its fair so when the ban leave u will be more carefull with ur words........but ranked games bann...i cant understand this....... so plz riot

Riot is trying to induce good morals into people and its not their job, they are discriminating against unmoral people, who are still people. Cleaning up the community of people who express their opinion that someone who sucks actually does suck. You should give a reward for people actually reporting toxic players then watch how many toxic people you actually have? Oh wait that will break the system though so logically it is fair to only punish toxic players and report honest ones because honest players wouldn't abuse a rewarded system or anything. It's just a crappy control mechanism because Riot is turned into a sell-out company and has to have the player base for the young kiddies nice and friendly. No body is perfect riot and what you are doing is like a teacher in preschool would do put them in time out. but instead you ban us for weeks at a time i love league i love what riot has done since day one. i liked the ban system before where you just get chat restriction / banned it makes me learn my lesson. but now its been a month and a half since i was able to play ranked why you ask? I have a 30 "DRAFT MODE WIN" ban from ranked so i have to "WIN" not play "win" 30 games in draft which is CRAZY. and the teams i get put on are pathetic because your playing with all these flammers and people that are also banned from ranked and lots of them deserve it. some people that i play with that are also banned are so damn good and they are banned from ranked for such a long time that clearly dont deserve waht you are doing. i dont under stand why you are doing this to us riot i really dont... we try so hard riot we really do you dont show us enough love riot!

This is a child's game to begin with, and the useless "Mature Language Filter" is just for fun obviously, and since there's immature Riot staff who don't know what's going on out there in the real life world, they take everything in as a 7 year-old agenda. They obviously don't look into "chat history" of the game, to see who started what or why, and as long there's multiple people agreeing to report on you, you're pretty much done even for being innocent. Riot really badly needs new staff.
