Master Yi - A more skilled rework
I'm not sure if anyone else found that Master Yi, despite being still a very strong champ, is really easy to use but way too difficult to balance and currently does "All or nothing", he can become the "untouchable noob champ" they all blame him to be or just "the walking bread". His skillset is quite outdated compared to the whole game evolution and it is quite predictable, just relying on his feed rather than outplay, a jackal motivated to steal kills from his team to be useful, though in some teamcomp it's like playing 4v5.
Considering the new game dynamic it would be a good idea to implement multiple uses of his existing skills, with appropriate nerfs and buffs where needed. Alpha Strike might be too strong while Meditate might become useless, I think both these skills should have a more variable potential and risk-reward rate with a more complex utility:
-
[Q] Alpha Strike: Maybe the animation should work faster, with the pros to apply damage more instantly and the cons to offer less target immunity time. Another good option would be to change its mechanic to bounce on multiple targets only when holding Q, while just going to the main target on a single click, which puts the player in a more tactical decision that affects the waveclear and target immunity duration.
-
[W] Meditate: This can be good against some specific champions with low damage and no hard cc, but in most cases it is just an Autoattack reset rather than a long fight skill (at least considering Yi as an assassin since he's very squishy). Even in this case it might be good to have a double use depending on clicking or holding the skill button to choose the skill duration and/or effect. Another interesting way to consider this barrier would be that the first autoattack hitting Yi during meditation will slightly push him in the opposite direction (just like a knockback, but without interrupting the skill), which might result in an opportunity to be knocked back in a safer place or otherwise in a riskier one, if the enemy can use this on his advantage.
There has never been a season where a Yi player hasn't been offended for playing a noob champ, I think it's time to extend the minimum and maximum potential we can get from him.
