My opinions on Irelia VS Darius

Well I may not be the most experienced player, I have been very keen to talk about this subject. Who has the upper hand in this match up , Irelia, or Darius?

I honestly always thought Irelia countered Darius until I looked at many of the comments of other league players. That is probably because I just finished my placements and I've played a lot of Irelia against Darius. I'm a Darius main, but when he is banned or chosen, Irelia is my second option. Lately, Darius has been picked so I would have to for Gbay99. I taught myself how to win the Irelia vs Darius match up. All you really need to do in lower elos is just play safe until lvl 3-4 then start trading. Also, make sure to take e first and Always q when Darius uses decimate. To be honest, I have always won lane like this. I also like to take ignite if I'm feeling keen and my team is confident they can win lanes. I try to make sure I get an early lead so I can snowball. What really got me to talk about this subject is, that when I play Darius vs Irelia, I seem to win most of the time, but when I am against a really skilled Irelia, I lose. So I was wondering which champion had the higher grounds in this match up. Thanks <3

It is a skill match up with a reasonable amount of favor to Darius. I do not hate this match up because there are ways to play it safe and in turn to Irelia's advantage but also ways to lose it.

In my experience with the matchup, Darius is stronger levels 1-5, they are roughly even 6-8, and Irelia out scales him after that, assuming neither is just feeding like crazy. Irelia can't win early trades as Darius' passive is too strong, but she can all in him once she gets 4-5 ranks in her W. Mostly the matchup revolves around what happens levels 1-6, as that is Darius' best chance to pressure her and snowball. If Irelia can play safe and stay close on farm or she gets significant help early, she should usually run away with it once the midgame hits.

TL:DR Assuming roughly even play skill, it's Irelia's matchup to lose.

Before the Darius rework, I felt it was an impossible match up for Irelia.

Now adays, I find that I win the vast majority of fights against him. After he lost the attack speed debuff, life is alot easier. At level 6 and 9 are good times to fight him, I feel.

Statistically, Darius's win rate drops from 52% to 51.3%, whereas Irelia's drops from 51.47% to 48.7%.

This is only out of ~500 games though, and it's just the raw data, so it probably isn't that reliable. The differences don't seem significant enough either.

Between levels 1-18 I think Darius or Irelia is good.

Otherwise, they both suck

It really depends on skills of both players. Irelia can kill Darius at 5 level. And at 7/8/9 if played good.

I was told that Irelia is ''easy'' lane for Darius. But hell not, i played against several good Irelias and it was damn hard to win my lane. I won just because i went for bami cinder and some tank items before Black cleaver.

As someone who loves Irelia and players her a bit (First champ I learned properly with how to last hit without abilities and undertower), I can say that the Irelia vs Darius matchup is more on how smart your opponent is. If the Darius uses his Spin without any regards, just trying to get SOME damage on you, you're gonna win. He's not watching his mana. He's focused on your HP. Bide your time till level 3, clear the minions faster than him and get a decent trade. From there, if you pressure him and have good minion control, you can deny him more than half the cs you'll get. This will lead to you snowballing and then killing him. From there, you just go for decent trades when he has abilities down. You should win easily like that. If the Darius is smart, you gotta be smarter. Play well!

Ehhh - darius is pretty much better at 1v1 at all stages of the game.

Depends on the skill level of the players. But I would say that Darius has a slight advantage over Irelia early game due to her needing TF.

As a Darius player, this depends on a lot of factors, but here are my thoughts:

Investing in MS early can help Darius dodge Irelia's stun more reliably.
Although you won't be able to deal much if any physical damage while Irelia is channeling her harass, Darius will still stack and proc his bleed and AD steroid, and his ult will still deal full damage since it is true damage. On that note, Conqueror has increased value here.
Because of Irelia's insane mobility if she manages to kill enemy minions, E and W are mostly wasted on them; however W is still an auto reset that slows, and E can hook then back and slow them a little bit as well if they decide to retreat towards their own wave or jungle.
Irelia's ult, however, makes the matchup more difficult--not unwinnable, but the disarm prevents Darius from using auto attacks to apply passive or the slow from W, which is something to consider.

Definitly darius.. i was looking into this matchup earlier i took ignite vs ghost darius and even Q'd when he Qd to avoid his stacks and E'd when lower but he wins that matchup no doubt.

Irelia has the upper hand but darius can fight her after a short while around level 3-9

Darius may win some fights but overall Irelia wins unless you picked darius for a very smart reason that puts your team over the top
