Hi. I really suck at LoL but i enjoy playing and that's what matters to me. I'm bronze 4, so i can't queue up with Gold players, but i just played a match ranked to try it out again (i usually play normals). I went Katarina mid and i usually look the player i have to lane against up on op.gg just because xD

He was gold 2.. why do i have to play vs high gold players even though i can't queue up with them? i don't get it. Doesn't seem fair to me.

tl;dr version: Flex queue is an abomination

You see, most people consider flex queue as the secondary ranked queue. A lot of people just straight up dont care about it, barely play it, or only play it later in the season. This leads to a bunch of people from varying soloq MMRs being scattered around the ranks

Cause you played flex, the ranking there is different

I played a normal ranked solo game and it was legit bronze 4 to diamond 5. The average mmr difference in solo que teams is starting to push 400. This is due to riot trying to keep que times short with a Declining player base. Its not a flex que only issue but i do agree flex que is pointless.

This guy gets it Players are less and less, to make it not obvious they need to shorten queue times all across the ranks and then this shit happens

Except # of ranked players isn’t going down? They do have stats for ranked playerbase in EUW/EUNE/NA etc.

There was a post about it.

he most likely plays mostly/only ranked games, which of course leads to a lower normals MMR.

The game he is referring to was in ranked. not normal's lol. reading op.

idk how tf I missed that lol

that must mean either the OP has good MMR, or that gold has abysmal MMR. most likely its the ladder.

edit: @OP also you might be bronze 4, but what you didn't tell us is that you were playing flex, which is a completely separate MMR. youre still in provisionals for that que, so its the system trying to determine where in flex you belong. therefore, youu should expect to be placed against higher divisions to get accurate results.

so those upvotes are probably the whole "matchmaking is rigged" circlejerkers XD.

edit 2: after doing a quick review of all the gold summoners, the highest one there is silver 1. based off of flex MMR, matchmaking did in fact do its job, because its basing it off of flex, not solo/duo mmr.

Its pretty simple really. and 1 of 2 things

  1. The gold player has terrible MMR. MMR is not equal to rank which is stupid and they never should have changed that back in season 2 or 3 i cant remember.

  2. The league player base is declining so your going to be playing vs people out of your skill level.

That or wait 35 min to find a game.

I legit played a game the other day that ranged from bronze 4 to diamond 1 in a ranked match mind you.

I'm Diamond III in Solo / Duo, but sometimes I play Flex just to chill out my friends, wich my rank is Gold III That's what happened to you. Flex and Solo have different ranks, wich means one does not influence the other. A player can be Bronze on Flex and Challenger on Solo.

Where was he gold 2 from? If it was a different queue than the one you were in, just ignore it.

MMR doesn't cross queues.
