You cannot carry as a support.
Sorry to say. I have been maining the support role since S5. Needless to say it's garbage. In my match history I have 90%-95-% kill participation. I setup the kills, get my team fed, put down 30-40+ wards a game. I also shot call in my game because I'm confident in my ability to do so. Now with that being said my team 80% of the time loses. Despite being fed and having tower advantage and dragon control we lose. Why? Because people get too cocky and think that they can mess around the whole game. No one wants to listen to the support because of my role, thinking their carrying the game. The only games I actually win are the ones that I go full ap blitz because then I can have some kill pressure. I like building supports the way they were meant to be built. Everytime I step out of the support role I win 76% of my games. I'm tired of people saying, "support can carry." No your not challenger, your team will not listen to you, your opinion does not matter. Got your team fed? Great! Now watch as they chase kills and die giving the enemy team hope, then you lose because your team decided to throw 50 times. People do not stop and think, "maybe he is a good support, maybe his calls are right? Hmm maybe I should listen once in a while!" The only 2 supports I know that can hard carry is Braum and Alistar. Thanks for letting me rant.
simply by getting a bit more AP then usual in my build. Usually do this when the AD carry isn't doing so well and it works surprisingly well.
