Lagging in game since last patch

since the last patch i have been unable to play a match of league without getting lag spikes randomly. I can play other games like overwatch or watch streams/ YouTube videos or multiple things at once but league just doesn't seem to allow me to do anything. I just had a ranked game (because i didn't think it was happening since everyone else is gone at my house) but within 2 minutes of starting my game i had my ping creep up to 2k then i restarted my client but i did nothing. after a while it went back down to where it should be but almost instantly spiked back up when i did anything and it stayed that way for the rest of the game.

I just want to know if its just me or if anyone else is having issues like this. PS nothing else was taking resources on my computer i checked it out. Closed anything that might try a download.
