This game just isn't fun for me anymore (RANT)
If you don't want to read the insane rant I am about to type, here's a TL;DR: Been playing since 2014, current state of the game makes me want to quit.
In this post I will talk a bit about why I don't like this game anymore and possible solutions. Let us get into it, shall we?
Let me tell you a bit about myself first. I am a silver 3 player that has been playing League of Legends since early 2014. I instantly fell in love with this game and quickly became addicted. I got bronze rank a few seasons ago and have been hardstuck silver for the last 2 seasons. I will be using some quotes from other sources/board members to add to my argument, but the rant will consist of my frustrations with this game.

#Damage
I have no idea how to start on the subject of damage, abilities do way too much and the new runes system enhances it. Almost every jungle pick is high damage AP and AD. Jungle isn't the only role limited to this kind of play, assassins and fighters are everywhere, and it seems like only burst AP is playable. Damage really doesn't help the tower issue, especially with recent tower and inhibitor nerfs. Which brings me to Game Balance.
#Game Balance (AKA Ghostcrawler)
Sometimes I feel like the balance team has never played this game before, because they do not understand what makes this game playable. For example, it took the balance team almost an entire season to fix the ardent problem, and they only did it after so many people complained about it. This is not the only issue. I feel like they do not check new/reworked champions pre-release cough
cough. What were they even thinking when they removed tracker's knife? Lee Sin is way harder to play now.
Riot Quote: > Tracker's Knife is almost mandatory in professional play, giving professional teams enough vision to avoid most early-game danger. Bringing it in line would kill it in most games, so for now we're simply removing it.
Lets not forget about the DISASTER that was banner of command. That's the problem, if the balance team doesn't like an item, they make it useless, or remove it entirely. My point is, they shouldn't have to remove ANY items, because they shouldn't be that broken in the first place. The balance team should know enough about this game so that they will not create broken items or item changes. I get it, everyone makes mistakes, and there is bound to be a fuck up somewhere and an item will become overpowered, but there are too many examples of broken items in the past. How can you excuse banner of command, early duskblade, ardent censer, old black cleaver, release stoneplate + locket + Cho ult, and updated liandrys? Mordekaiser could legit one shot you with his ult, and all he had to do was buy early update liandrys. (Of course they fixed most of these items, or removed them, but the point is that the items made it past the testing stage.)
#Ranked System
The ranked matchmaking system is pretty terrible. It isn't the worst thing on this list, but it really bothers me sometimes. The system doesn't seem to distinguish good players from the bad players. It is not consistent, 1 game I will get a good team, and another game I will get 3 feeders. Of course, this happens, every game has some bad players and some good players. But the system does not know how to put bad players with other bad players. I get matched with a large amount of trolls in 40% of my games. Check my match history if you don't believe me. Like I said, it isn't the worst issue, and this is my opinion, but I feel that small changes to the system could work great.
#Riot's Overall Treatment of Players
It seems like all Riot cares about recently is the LCS, skins, and worlds pro scene. Every single change is about the pro scene. Warding good in pro scene? Remove tracker's knife. Teleport good in pro scene? Nerf teleport. Baron not good enough for pro scene? Buff late game baron scaling. Baron not being taken fast enough? Make it easier to take. Games lasting too long in pro scene? Nerf towers and inhibitors. Why doesn't riot do things for the rest of the playerbase? They either don't understand how this ruins solo queue or they just don't care about it ruining solo queue.
#Reworks
(OPINION ALERT) Some reworks are awesome, such as
and
. I have no problems with those reworks, Riot did good job on creating them. I do however dislike some other reworks such as
and constant
reworks. Also, many old
mains hate her rework and stopped enjoying her. Reworks are a good thing, but sometimes I feel they are not executed correctly or done well. Also new
is broken.
#Justice System
The justice system in League of Legends only seems to deal with toxic players. There is no punishment for soft inting or trolling, and there is no punishment for flaming in other languages. Congratulations, you gave someone that got mad at a troll a chat ban, but that troll will go on to troll more games and cost more players to become tilted, thus the cycle continues. Riot really needs to deal with win traders and soft inters.
(No, I did not get any recent punishments)
#Dominion's Removal
The player that goes by the username Minarde sums up the issue fairly well. (This is a comment from when dominion was removed.)
No one plays Dominion because you've never given us a reason to play Dominion. No ranked, no accolades, no Champ Mastery, nothing. Even balance updates were few and far between. The only reward for those of us that became decent at the map ever got was longer queue times. Every year, you assured us that you were discussing the issue. Every year, barely anything happened. Over the past five years, we've lost existing players to neglect, potential players to ignorance, dev support to other teams, and even our little corner of the boards to redesigns, but we've always had our home map. Regardless of whether we were active players or not, we still felt a bond through the Crystal Scar. And now we've lost that too. What next? Is Twisted Treeline going to be removed as well? You specifically mention ARAM as a healthy map and yet you rarely pay attention there either. Why try to fool us about "supporting alternate experiences" when it's increasingly obvious that Summoners Rift is the only experience you care about?
As someone that enjoyed Dominion, I agree with this 100%.
#LCS vs Players
Basically what I said before, all Riot seems to care about is the LCS. They nerfed teleport, towers, and inhibitors for no reason other than pro play. Riot NEEDS to pay more attention to the rest of the playerbase.
#Final Thoughts
I really love this game, and have been addicted for 4 years. I really hope Riot can fix this shithole that League is currently stuck in. Thanks for spending the time to read this rant. Feel free to add anything to the argument, I will be in the comments.
