Suggestion: Slight Adjustment to the 6.14 information-relaying pings (ability cooldowns, etc)
Hi, I have a suggestion that I feel might fare better on Reddit or some other site where it will get more visibility, but alas I can't find the seemingly proper place to do so. Instead, I'll be posting it here so that it at least has a chance to gain traction.
With patch 6.14, a new contextual pinging feature has been added to the game, whereby pinging your abilities, summoner spells, items with active effects, or jungle timers pastes the remaining cooldown/respawn time into team chat. I have found it to be a very useful feature, and it is my understanding that this has been a requested feature for some measurable amount of time. The way I view it, this new ping function is a direct replacement for having to type into chat how long an ability is unavailable, and can save precious seconds.
Another common thing that players frequently must manually type in chat is when an enemy player has used one or both of their summoner spells. My suggestion is expanding the newly added feature to be able to ping enemy summoner spells within the scoreboard to paste into chat when it would again be available as if it had just been used. For example, flash's cooldown is 300 seconds, so if I ping an opponent's flash at 12:17 (time in game lapsed) then in team chat would be pasted "Opponent flash - 17:17".
I believe it would be beneficial and not unfair for such a system to also take into account summoner spell cooldowns that have been reduced due to the usage of the mastery Insight, which reduces summoner spell cooldowns by 15%. After all, a player can easily tell whether or not an opponent has that mastery selected by hovering over their summoner spells in the scoreboard and noticing an oddly-numbered cooldown.
Just a suggestion, feedback is more than welcome. If the community finds this feature agreeable, perhaps it can make its way into the game in the near future, while the new pinging system is still fresh.
