Ryze Needs Changes! Let's Rework This Champion Please.

Ryze needs CHANGES. He's ruining this game. Here's why.

You may have seen him a few times at worlds. He had a pick/ban rate of 85%. This is indicative of his strength. He's a viable pick against any comp, and against any opposing laner. At world's he was picked both at mid and top, showing his ability to farm safely in lane against any champion. His win rate was 65% as well, which is 3rd best among champs with a pick/ban over 20%. There was also Alistar at 80% win rate, who has since been nerfed, and Rengar at 89% win rate, played over a small sample and summoner size of 8 out of 9 games.

Ryze scales very well into late game. A Ryze with a simple core build of Tear, Frozen Heart, Boots, and Rod of Ages can output a lot of damage. He is proven to be a safe farmer against any mid/top champion. Getting to a core build only requires Ryze to have good farming mechanics, such as CS'ing with auto attacks. He does not require kills in order to scale into the late game, just solid farm mechanics. 200 CS at 20 minutes turns Ryze into a beast. So any game lasting longer than 30 minutes allows Ryze to become rather unstoppable.

Ryze is an anti-fun champion. He is unable to be outplayed. All of his skills are the same range, click abilities. He clicks and does damage, and is tanky. There's no way to actually "counter" a Ryze like there is to counter other champions; one can only "overpower" Ryze. Most champions have a path to choose to do damage or to be tanky. Ryze does both, at 500 range. His "combos" don't make a huge difference, given that it's just pressing abilities in order (or when they are off cooldown..). Not a whole lot of thinking is involved.

Adding all of this up, and Ryze is in my opinion a broken champion. There's other "simple" champions like Darius, but he can be outscaled. There's scaling champions like Nasus, but he has an exploitable range and early game. Ryze should get a rework. What that rework is, I don't know. Other formerly-simplistic champions such as Rengar, Sona, Sion, and Soraka have gotten interesting reworks. I think it's time Ryze gets his. What do you guys think?

If Ryze needs a rework, every last Marksman needs a rework.

It's really unlikely that rito wil touch him with the incoming seasonal changes.

I heard only his Q base damage is getting nerf, so there's part of your prayer answered.

In Ryze's defense, his current state is already a reworked one (his previous installment, not counting alpha, was a 100-0 AOE burst mage, Spell Flux (the bounce) being your main damage tool instead of Overload (Q) as it is now).

Also, the main problem with Ryze is that he's relegated top to fight against melee champions, who he obviously outranges. The problem isn't inherently that he beats ranged champs, but that he's no longer a good mid (which used to be his main lane until everybody and their mothers bullied him out of it). I think shifting him into a champ that could go in either lane would work better than a champ that simply sits top and farms all day

The flaw in this argument is that he is plenty capable of playing the mid lane. He was played at least a handful of times in the midlane at Worlds, including 2 pretty dominant games for Royal Club alongside their top lane Maokai against OMG and SSW.

The previous nerf on the PBE looked to have been putting Ryze into a waiting for rework state. The current one that Riot defaulted to is just toning him down and at the very least should quiet down the 'Ryze is a lane bully' talk in the top lane a little.

Erm lemme try to rephrase that

He got bullied out of mid, went top. Riot decided a buff was in order to bring him back. People realized said buff made him pretty much broken top.

All in all though, Ryze is pretty easy to play (though arguably nothing was easier than pre-rework Ryze, you could literally roll your fingers from r to q and you 100-0'd someone as long as you were in range), which means buffs and nerfs are always gonna be volatile. We'll see if the PBE nerfs will bring him back in line.
