nasus is anti-fun

this isnt a nerf nasus thread hes not at all broken cause he has some huge weaknesses hes just so terrible to play against and i want to know what you guys think of it

  • you have to dedicate the whole game to making sure he doesn't stack
  • sometimes poking him feels totally pointless cause of grasp/passive heal
  • if you are playing a blind like a filthy casual for a fun non-serious game and you happen to pick someone who just does okay or badly against him there goes 30 minutes of your life (wow i just described any toxic champ in league)
  • he gets kited really easily but getting flashed q'd as any squishy just sucks
  • towers do like 0 damage to him once hes level 6 and they get shredded so easily
  • the slow/ attack speed slow isnt broken, but its just toxic to play against
  • if youre jg is braindead and doesnt gank you cant get a lead unless you are a counter to his champ
  • you wont always be able to perfectly freeze a lane so he'll eventually reached a threshhold where you just cant 1v1 him anymore and there goes enjoying yourself for the rest of the game

overall, nasus is not broken i just think that hes pretty terrible and boring to play against i just cant see anyone actually enjoying themselves playing against this champion, he just does nothing till some point in mid/late game where you cant fight him alone anymore so you have to just run away

i know im gonna get downvoted and told: "lol silver skrub git gud" but im seriously wondering how people have fun against this champion

I'd rather it be Nasus top than Teemo.

Nasus as an enemy in lane is like having a polite dinner party with an enemy.

You at least get to farm.

Shaydrox17 votes

Yeah and once you've politely been farming together for 20 minutes he suddenly runs up to you and demolishes you without taking any meaningful damage, after that he takes 2 towers and you're left crying because you cannot do anything vs him anymore.

Its because you are not supposed to 1v1 him..... Thats the whole point of Nasus.

Thefrostyviking1 votes

I´d rather take teemo, i´ll get boned early but i´ll stand a chance at returning it twice over later on.

Nasus? If i cant kill him through wither then it's basically just desperately farming as much as possible until he gets enough stacks to force me outa lane, permanently.

what champion are you playing? Teemo late game is disgusting strong

Funny enough, Teemo's a good counter to Nasus.

Ranged poke to keep him off of Stacks.

Blind to prevent stacking.

Mushrooms to keep waves shoving and prevent ganks.

W to kite easier.

On-hit teemo builds where he's a little tanky too? Work wonders. Building Frozen Mallet on Teemo pretty much means nasus can't escape you or your damage, and can't catch you either.

Agreed id rather face Nasus any day of the week than a Teemo, Heim, Gnar etc. Pretty much make your ability to farm shit

My complaints is how long his ulti is.

It lasts 15 seconds. FIFTEEN.

WHAT

That's a bit too long for a god mode don't you think?

It's consistent with the two other Godmodes of top lane Renekton Riven

My only problem with him is Wither. The slow is insane. You can cleanse it item 3140 item 3139 but you still won't get away from a summoner 6 Nasus that has a Wither on a 6.6 cooldown when he has 40% cdr, or 6.05 cooldown if he has 45% at max rank.

I get that Nasus is suppose to be this strong god and all and that Wither is part of his whole character but jesus that ability is the strongest CC in the game.

Hella Kaiser2 votes

put Phase Rush in there and you got yourself a very fast doggo

That 'slow' might as well be a stun, lmao.

He didn't have free resist+Q CDR on his ult the last seven years which is what broke nasus and makes him unbearable to face doesn't change the fact that nasus is a shit champ but a frustrating one because riot thinks they can make champs viable by just slapping random shit onto their kit without fixing their actual issues.

I would be for a nasus rework. As unfun as he is to play against, I assure you that he's equally un fun to play. He's just all around a black hole of fun

Fun is a relative concept and a lot of Nasus players enjoy playing him, so I disagree with your statement. Just because you don't like him doesn't mean nobody does

  1. No you don't. Ganking him a couple times before level 6 is enough.
  2. Get him low enough, and he CAN'T use those for sustain, since approaching the wave means death.
  3. You just described literally every champion. "I got a bad matchup, I lost, and I feel bad now".
  4. 5 minute CD, and you won't die to a single Q unless you've given him
  5. That's not Nasus, that's just towers being shit.
  6. It really isn't. Get swifties, mercs, or QSS if it's such an issue.
  7. Even if you can't get a big lead against Nasus, his early game is bad enough that you basically get free farm until 6.
  8. Sounds like you need to work on wave management. You shouldn't be trying to 1v1 a Nasus in the mid-late game. Bring a squad to farm the Nasus and take the 4v5 teamfight afterwards.
T4underbolt3 votes

After last changes to his ult he can 1v1 anyone after 150 stacks.

Bârd1 votes

So don't try to fight him fair after he has level 6. Get your advantage before then and use it to kill other people.

T4underbolt3 votes

Its the only way, but that makes it a toxic champion design. If you are forced to leave lane after 10 minutes by default or need constant jungle help which can still turn into double for nasus there is something really wrong with that champion. They shouldnt have give him that cdr on q when in ultimate. Before he had to actually stack to be able to 1v1. Now with very little stacks he can do it simply because he has twice the stacks basically when ulting.

Bârd2 votes

...except that's not the only way.

  • Stomp him pre-6 and then go crush other lanes.
  • Stomp him pre-6 and have your team group top.
  • Stomp him pre-6 and CONTINUE stomping him with the right pick.
  • Take the freefarm and outscale Nasus.
  • Laneswap to deny him farm.
  • Have a tank catch the wave every time Nasus pushes to tower.
  • Force Nasus to teamfight instead of split.
  • Engage a 5v4 fight while Nasus is split pushing.

Just because you have to use your brain against him doesn't make him "toxic champion design".

T4underbolt3 votes

You see. You just proved my point he is toxic champ. You have to literally work as 5 people and keep him in check whole game. You have to focus everything on him while sacrificing many other things, because the moment you leave him for a minute after you already stomped him you will lose the game. The q cdr on ult is dumb change and should be reverted. Easy as that.he didnt need to have his stack doubled for 15 seconds every 60 seconds.

Bârd1 votes

Wow, what an outrage.

You have to work as a team to win in a team game.

It's almost like there's a pattern here.

If you insist on playing the entire game 1v1, he's still not unbeatable.

  1. Abuse his early game to get an item advantage into the mid game.
  2. Fake an all in to bait his ult. Ideally, do so without ulting yourself, but either way works.
  3. Disengage.
  4. Re-initiate when his ult wears off, since you're stronger than he is without his ult.
T4underbolt3 votes

Yeah its a team game but somehow we have to play 5v1 to be able to have a sloght chance to win against rest 4 players. Abuse early?he lifesteals through everything plus usually has corrupting potion. 3 last points about baiting his ult and dise gaging yet you forgot about very balanced point and click slow that is basically a stun and has 5 seconds duration. Even as mobile champ like riven you wont escape from him.unless you are under turret already. Plus his slow is up few moments after one ends.

He is hardly viable past platinum, there is only a handful of match ups where he is actually a decent pick. Just getting stacks is not enough to carry a game with nasus. He only is a true monster in midgame and only if he gets free stacks + a few kills ,which honestly should never be happening. In most situations Nasus ends up being just an anchor to his team.

Yep. He's a snowball champ and has everything that such a character needs. Rapidly scaling damage into the mid game, extra tankiness, and his lane is crazy easy to gank for his jungler due to his W.

Literally any main line defensive item that a given class builds will allow you to fight him or prevent him from destroying you though. item 3102 item 3075 item 3139 item 3026 all remove his ability to kill you over and over.

Nasus runs on the assumption that either he can farm against you or kill you once he reaches a certain threshold.

If he never takes off, he will be strong mid game, but not overbearing and then he will suck late game.

Z3Sleeper4 votes

Don't worry about him stacking. Riot really blurred the line over time when it comes to Nasus's stacks. Currently it really doesn't matter how many stacks he has. His Q is gonna hurt regardless due to Trinity Force and base damages and a unrestricted stacking Nasus is only gonna make it hurt ~100 more than usual.

Stacks aren't what makes Nasus Q hurt. The base damage + item 3078 is what makes it hurt.

This is why Nasus is a mid game champ and not a late game champ as opposed to what people may think. Stacks aren't that powerful. His powerspike is when he gets Trinity Force and he slowly falls off from there. His scaling, albeit infinite, scales so slowly it doesn't even matter.

And lategame a Nasus with 400 stacks vs 800 stacks is still gonna get melted regardless in the blink of an eye by your ADC.

All these and replace it with adcs and add a lot more burst range and mobility to them. Yet Nasus is anti fun LUL

Swiftstrike42 votes

That's not how you play against Nasus...You usually focus on his team and putting them behind before he scales.

Babysitting him and trying to 1v1 him is how you lose against Nasus. Map pressure and pressure on his teammates is how you win.

Skorch2 votes

My favorite thing about fighting nasus is that hes a midgame monster, but even though hes infinitely stacking unless he has like 2000+ stacks he isnt TOO bad in the late game. Since Nasus players 9/10 have the mentality of "stacking stacking stacking" You can EASILY just 3v1,4v1,5v1 him late game when you have the damage to kill him fairly quickly. Nasus isnt too threatening if you actually have a frontlane that can eat a few stacks.

The issue is that 1/10 person that understands past like 700stacks your usefullness in stacking starts dropping and realizes that nows the time to group.

I agree with this, and I think discussion on Nasus's gameplay health in the past has been bogged down by the fact that he is neither popular nor exceptionally successful. He is not overpowered, but he nonetheless feels boring to play against. As is the case with many other frustrating champions, his basic counterplay is pretty simple (bully him all the time and don't ever let him stack), but isn't fun, and as a result he tends to suck the fun out of the games he's in. I think there are many aspects to Nasus that are awesome fun, including his stacking aspect, and I do in fact want him to be stronger; I just also want him to offer more diverse avenues of counterplay beyond just sending someone to bully him all game, and I'd like his power increase to be tied a little more to him seeking out champions to fight.

ZephyrDrake2 votes

so... what you want them to do? nerf him because he is "feels bad to play against"

change his abilities? if so then how?

you don't have to prevent him from gaining stacks, you just punish him early and then force him to decide whether he wants stacks or be with his team. Yes it will suck getting flash Q'd as a squishy but that is literally no different than any champion that can just delete squishies. He needs to be close enough to you so that flashing actually covers the distance necessary for him to actually hit you with a Q after he flashes. Turrets do no damage to anyone past lvl 3 and they die so everyone with little effort as well. Nasus just builds like a tank and he tanks turrets! who knew!? you have to maintain pressure on him if you want to do anything. You poking him out a little and then just letting him have the entire wave all for himself is just going to cause him to regain all the life he lost. Play smart, you don't have to 1v1 him
