Jax is NOT broken.

Been playing Jax since Season 3. Yes, I understand that I am only Plat. He's been sh*t tier for the past season and now people buy rage blade on him. Ok, that's great. But not so much. If you fed Jax, it's over. That's on you and he will stomp on you regardless of if he buys rage blade or not. Rage blade synergies well with his offensive kit. However, it gives no defensive stats. What's Jax' weakness? Team fights. I feel like the only reason people complain about "Jax being OP" is because everyone is picking up squishy champions. Just try this. Go Shen top. Oh, he dove into a team fight with his glass cannon Rageblade?

Taunt.

Dead.

Jax isn't broken. Rageblade might be over the top but it isn't that strong on Jax. Not when you consider how squishy he becomes building that + hextech. I see people feeding Jax pre-rage blade and then complaining post-rage blade about how the item is broken. That's absurd.

Pick up CC. CC him in team fights. Dead.

> Jax builds Rageblade > Jax autos four times within 1.5 seconds > Jax presses R with his newly gained stats > Claims Rageblade isn't defensive

Nice b8, m8.

The fact he can go Rageblade/Hextech into full tank and destroy anyone not named Malphite is a balance problem

Jax can press R with or without Rageblade. Rageblade hurts his ults efficiency compared to building Triforce which gives him the necessary health to be good in team fights and synergize with his ult's armor/MR bonuses.

You're hilarious man.

  1. Rageblade is already stupid cost efficent in itself, the fact Jax further accentuates this means there is a broken interaction between the 2

  2. Why are you making it sound like Jax cannot build both?

Ecks dee, totes hilar

Maybe you should play Jax for more than 3 games...

CC is a generic counter to everything. So much so that it's really not considered a counter anymore... And building 2 offensive items on jax and then going tank is a completely viable build, honestly its better you go that way. you're still just dumb strong AND hard to kill. Jax's holes are going to be resized eventually by Riot... God knows when though, they seem to be in the habbit of giving previously "Non-meta" champs a lot of time in the lime light. Look at the juggernauts, they're still kinda in it. http://i3.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/058/933/GTFO.png

No, they're not "still kinda in it" Jax is all of a sudden considered OP because of Rageblade? His winrate is still abysmal, he's still particularly weak in laning phase. Yes, he is insane when he's fed. But to get there, you have to be facing an idiot who doesn't know how to play. What are these people picking vs Jax? You pick Irelia, Shen, Darius, Garen, Renekton, etc. and you can easily bully him in lane and cut off his snowball potential. Also, in team fights their CC/tankiness is a lot more formidable if used properly. Jax's armor/MR ult is so overrated by people who don't actually play Jax and know the truth. The guy's early game was already nerfed to a point where his early game was abysmal for all of Season 4. They won't touch him as long as his win rate stays as low as it is. Especially when you consider all the more viable top laners like for example FIORA?! The rageblade makes him even more glass cannon early game. Oh wow he built a rageblade first? No sustain, no armor/MR, no health. Fervor was hit and that helped very well in tuning his AA potential down a bit but he's still not as viable as you think.

Also, gtfo this thread. You don't even play top lane. Anything you hear is from second hand experience. Maybe pick up Jax and try it out for yourself.

Jax is much less vulnerable to CC than other fighters because he builds extremely tanky and gets alot of free stats.

passive, (must be stacked) and then his ult is on an ultimate cooldown. So no, nothing is free.

While I whole heartedly agree with OP on the team fight aspect. That's going to fall on deaf ears in yoloQ. People don't listen to each other, they just do their own thing.

BluePolarizer4 votes
  1. You aren't good. You don't have the right to say "yolo Q".

  2. His ult is on a shorter cooldown than most other ults while his passive is extremely easy to stack. Nothing is free in this game, not in any other champion's kit either, so I don't get your point.

AHeroNamedHawke1 votes

Why is Jax in a teamfight? It's not like anything can 1v1 him once he has a Rageblade, and will likely win 1v2 if he isn't far behind.

Kaeblen1 votes

So, I want to believe you. I WANT to. If you main Jax, tell us what you think is most frustrating to lane against as him. Why exactly are teamfights so hard on him? I've seen Jax just jump around killing people before they can even group for a proper team fight--he was still wining 1v2 and 1v3. Jax is SO oppressive right now. why do you think that is?

on an unrelated note, does item 3057 still proc on every 3rd attack, thanks to Jax 's ult-passive? It used to do that for him, and for TwistedFate 's E, but I haven't checked it recently.

TheHypeGoku1 votes

Team fights are hard on him because his early game numbers were tweaked to make him take longer to scale upwards. This was evident in his further fall throughout Season 4. With the amount of dashes and peel that teams can employ, Jax's one shot at his E Q (E has a huge cooldown) makes him very vulnerable. The moment you pop E, you've put a target on your back and one ability that can knock you out of position will hurt. Also, people have to realize that his E's strength is to block auto attacks. The longer you keep it up, the more you'll absorb. The problem is, in team fights, you're not going to get by only AA's. You're going to be dealing with the back line peel of an AP champ most likely also. If he doesn't land his E, he's basically done unless he's already been fed (And let's be real, just about every champ has this going for them if they're fed). His ult MR/Armor is so overrated and it still doesn't allow him to be the main tank/initiator. He's more of a weak offtank that has really only one form of CC that requires him to leap and usually flash in order to catch up with all the mobility these days.

Jax has always been oppressive when fed; what champ isn't? The number of times I've come out in lane throughout Season 4 and been fed and been able to dominate people is countless. Usually I'm not able to 1v3 or anything crazy like that because it wasn't in normals or preseason (which everyone takes waaay too seriously), it was in ranked where people my skill level knew what to do to beat me. Hell, I would say Irelia is so much more worse than Jax. If Jax gets shut down in lane, he's not coming back. If Irelia gets shut down in lane, she picks up a Triforce and all of a sudden it's as if she never lost lane. You want to talk oppressive, where's the complaints for Irelia at? That's a discussion for another time though lol

The most frustrating to lane against, as Jax, has to be Renekton. He has built in armor pen, built in sustain, a lock on stun, two dashes, and one hell of an ult. He dashes in, stuns you, does his damage, and dashes out. When I usually play against a good Renekton, it's game over. I'm not beating him without a gank. It's been awhile since I've seen an actual Renekton main that knows what they're doing but when I go against one I can't really do anything. He zones and bullies well, as he was intended to do. And Jax isn't someone that really comes back from being behind. The Triforce is a 100% necessary item on him and even then, it doesn't work as well as it does on Irelia.

Anyways, I kinda went in depth with some stuff but meh, just my two cents.

Thankyou(!) for the insights. I just bought jax, and may be using him a great deal in the future. To summarize your comments (alot), it sounds like jax specializes in dueling other aa reliant champions, but has weaknesses against skill-damage (mages), and because he gives his enemies clear indicators (E animation) of when to CC or displace him. He is also a lategame 'feast or famine' type, which scales well, but struggles early, and has difficulty coming back if ever behind. Sound about right?

TheHypeGoku1 votes

Yup! Absolutely feast or famine Triforce type of champion. I've actually been able to beat up on Jax top laners literally every game when I either top or jungle (or very easy to peel against as a support). Irelia is another story :[ lol she needs nerfs. Oh you out traded her? Now her E gets to stun you as punishment for doing a good job -.- lol

Kaeblen1 votes

I see a lot of hate vs Irelia . You may try going Poppy vs her. I don't think it's a hard counter, but you should certainly give her a hard time.

Getting 8~9k worth in gold stats that is actually fully effective for 2800g that you can consistently have when split pushing is broken for what Jax does. 1v1 and split push.

Rageblade is balanced in FULL 5v5 where you need to ramp up first, but in lane phase you're ramped up constantly.

Item needs a base stats BUFF and a passive effect NERF this way the item is good at 2~ stacks and great at 8~ stacks instead of "OMG HE TWO SHOT ME" at 8 stacks.

A fully stacked Rageblade is like having two and half finished items if you are an AA reliant using of AD and AP. Jax is this perfectly.

TLDR: Item was made to be efficient for those with meh "off" ratios so Jax with good hybrid ratios is hilarious.

LaowPing1 votes

I don't think Jax is OP, I think the item is op. It makes him strong enough to delete who ever he gets the chance to dive. Once the main damage dealers are done he just cleans house. Sure, peel can work decently against him but he's a bruiser who can do damage as quickly as an assassin. OP doesn't mean uncounterable, just too strong for what ever the standard is.

Also, being "only Plat" puts you at a higher elo than about 90% of the people on the boards. Just something I wanted to note.

Rageblade should be removed, seriously, I bet that people who says jax should be nerfed are the same idiots who think that WB is not broken af on crit based champions.

But you know, Vayne is fine, Swain is broken and CT is not cancer.

Jax is only decent

Personally jax is easy for me to beat even after rageblade, although my playstyle is to starve enemy top laners until they eventually die to the gap. Which as a bonus makes minion waves huge so if the jungler ganks it's basically a 2v2 at that point.

Past laning phase if he took until then to get rageblade one cc and he's out....
