Amumu - Liandry's or Abyssal Scepter?
So I was playing Amumu earlier today and had built a Liandry's. One of the guys on my team told me that I would get a lot more out of abyssal scepter than Liandry's. Thoughts?

No, I don't think so. There could be an argument for it based on having other magic damage dealers on your team though.
Situational. Abyssal is better against squishies, with teams that have magic shred champs, with teams that have lots of magic damage and when the other team does lots of magic damage
If you have a decent AP on your team, they'd be doing true damage to really anyone with the abby aura + mumu passive.

It wouldn't really impact your game much if any; however, for the sake of itemizing against your opponents it depends on whether or not you need that extra mr or health I suppose. You already reduce MR with autos etc., so abyssal isn't a requirement it is however nice. Both of these items compliment amumu like crazy. I guess you could argue if your team is heavily magic damage based. (ap top, mid, ap support, magic dmg adc (like varus, corki, ez)) then abyssal would be wiser. It all depends on the circumstances. First and foremost build what you can to survive then look at your composition to see which would be better. Are you ahead? Does you doing extra damage impact your game more than amplifying your teams? ETC. If you aren't fed or healthy gold wise it makes much more sense to buy abyssal. Like sejuani though liandrys can really be strong on amumu but amumu does not utilize it as efficiently without your teams abilities and or your ultimate. (unless you're building rylais but I don't think that's practical honestly). It all depends on the game every game is different. I would say more often than not abyssal would be more so the right choice and I'd say get liandrys later as opposed to earlier. Although sometimes I like to buy a guise early on.
I'm gonna assume you were playing Amumu as a mage. You have burst damage, but no ranged poke. I'd say abyssal is better especially if the enemy has some ap, or if your team has some ap.
It depends on the game, but most games liandry's is much better. Liandry's is really, really good with dot effects such as despair (amumu's w) it is also good as a standalone ap item if the rest of your build is tank. Abyssal is good choice if you need mr or if you have an ap mid and top because the aura benefits them as well. Abyssal is the more team focused choice, while liandry's is what you should build if you live a long time in fights to be more threatening. Liandry's also synergizes better with cinderhulk since it gives health. IMO amumu should build 4 tank items and boots before building an ap item, but usually that item is liandry's. Go abyssal if you have an ap heavy team/are against an ap heavy team.
I normally build Liandry's if they have two or more tanky people and locket if they have a lot of ap damage. Haven't tried amumu with abyssal yet so I was wondering what community opinion is.
