Two AFKs in a ranked game. Demoted. Can you please fix this broken system?

I just finished a game where both our mid laner Akali went AFK a few minutes in to the game and then our jungler Sylas intentionally fed after afking by turret for a good portion of the game. Reported, but that doesn't bring back the LP lost when forced to play in a 3v5.

Since starting to play this morning, I've been in not just one, not two, not three, but FIVE AFK GAMES. I lost LP to the point of being demoted.

Please tell me when you're going to fix this problem or I will happily uninstall as this isn't a game it's BS.

Ranked means nothing if noone takes it seriously because there's no punishment whatsoever. Riot encourage players to use alts, so if 1 get suspended or banned for a day, you pick another. Then even other.

Back in "old days" with old rune system smurf were an issue, but somewhat contained, as getting full runeset was a pain in ass, so noone wanted really waste their time on an account they don't care about.

Now? "meh don't wanna climb, gonna stay in silver/bronze and troll people, so gotta drop my mmr a bit. So time to afk for 6-10 games"

From the looks of it, Riot finds this mess perfectably acceptable.

Couldn't agree more that there's no punishment for bad behavior in ranked. Out of the odd 5+ games of afks, I got ONE response that a player had been reprimanded when in each case there was a clear afk. The new runes also are not as good as the old, agreed. I loved having some kind of strategy with rune selection before whereas now it's just basically a guessing, trial/error situation.

I don't even understand why someone who has never practiced a champion at all should be allowed in to a ranked game? How does it make any sense that you are utterly inexperienced and yet you're with bronze and silver team mates? How does it make sense that you're asking me how to build your character or what runes to take and you are with people who are M6 or M7 on their champs? With them actively participating, you can't report them for feeding, so you just have to resign yourself to a loss or try to carry: a waste of everyone's time.

This also seems to encourage smurfing. I actually had a game where someone bragged about being a diamond smurf, and clearly were. If I was on the other team, I'd be pissed. (FYI, we still wound up losing because, surprise surprise, we had an afk).

What would make more sense is if you got your champions up to M5 at the very least before you're allowed to use them in ranked. This would stop smurfing and make sure that players at least know the ins and outs of their champ.

I also recommend harsher penalties for afking: like three games of afk and you're banned from ranked until you show up consistently for a game. Although, there are clearly bots at work. One seems to ping and move around slightly in base to cheat the afk system. I had a game where a Malphite sat in base, but his pixels shifted ever so slightly, so it never registered him as afk.

I also don't know why you're awarded ranking statuses but you're not playing with champs of your level. Why is there no structure?

If anything, this system seems to favor pre-made teams. I guess for advertising it's cooler than a bunch of randos climbing up the ladder, but again it makes this game broken in all the wrong ways and slowly killing any interest I have in it.
