It may not be the most funny champ but Sion is really strong right now, also Camille if you don't like tanks.

Whatever anyone else says:

Shen is the best toplaner. Period.

Why? Because he's good, and remains useful ahead or behind. Also, he actually is useful to his team, instead of a liability, which basically every bruiser that isn't overpowered is.

Honestly, it depends on your jungler.

If you already have jung that will gank early or gank top AT ALL for that matter (i.e. Udyr , Warwick , Volibear , Jax ), Nasus is a good pick because you can Farm your Q pretty easy. Easy champ to learn and the longer it goes, the stronger you get.

If you have a jungler that won't gank until after level 6 (i.e. Evelynn , Shyvana), then it's best to get a bruiser that can keep your lane pushed. Like Illaoi . You have to hit your E's, but if you do, you can bully your lane opponent HARD.

If you're team is all AD and you need some AP, champs like Cassiopeia or Teemo or Singed (pick accordingly depending on the tankiness you need).

Yes, there are other strong champs in the Meta right now that might be STRONGER than the ones mentioned like Sion or Camille, but those champs aren't that easy to just "pick up" and start winning. They have more "mechanical" type skill shots to be truly effective. But the 5 champs I listed above are relatively "easy to play" and can have a strong effect on your team in all phases of the game.
