He finally had a somewhat interesting kit with strong and weak points, and you take his passive and make it nearly useless for anyone that is half decent for ryze
I can guarentee he won't be picked in LCS after this patch nor will we see much if any more ryze after this nerf

Bídoof1 votesInstead of lasting 5 seconds it now lasts 5 spell casts. Essentially, instead of getting WQEQWQEQWQ(possibly more depending on positioning) you get WQEQW and your passive is gone

I have a decent amount of ryze games and can play him well (he was my third most played champion last week with 9 games and an 89% winrate) so don't think I just want him gutted. What I think they're doing is trying to make his one ult be permasnare and making it so he can ult A LOT can go in for a couple snares then rinse and repeat. He probably will be substantially weaker after this patch, but maybe after that patch, they'll look into buffing him some more.
Look at it kinda like a slight rework over a bunch of patches.
This is an optimistic viewpoint but I would really rather not have Riot gut one of my favorite champions again, like they did to Rengar (but they're trying to fix what they've done) and soon to be udyr. It's annoying honestly.
Bídoof1 votesUnderstandable. It just lowers his DPS so much. I typically get out 3 full rotations, upwards of 12-15 spells during my passive. Now i get 5. Just seems kind of stupid. Dont punish players for being decent on ryze, lower the duration or something
Lugg1 votesRyze has been around forever and Riot has finally realized that it's better for him to be slightly on the underpowered side. He is better at being a niche pick for certain comps and against certain champs. Otherwise, if he is on the strong side, he tends to completely dominates the rift and gets perma-banned.
