New Mordekaiser Discussion

So I have played against many mords (mordes?) in the past few days since his change and have lost horribly against every single one of them. Just looking for any counters or tips for playing against him and I would like peoples' opinions on whether they think he is broken right now or just really strong. In my opinion he makes me want to uninstall the game until he's nerfed, lol.

He's just really strong. So far, the best options against him is kiter champs or champs that hit like a truck.

The real key to his dominance, is his synergy with his support. If you can force the support out of lane, Morde loses 50% of his laning power in botlane. He'll be forced to farm under turret until support gets back. Otherwise, it won't be hard to kill him.

Morde tends to work extremely well with initiator supports, so I suggest having someone like Tahm, Thresh, or Bard as a support. Someone who can get you out of their painful CC-Burst combo.

He seems to be a very good counter to riven. His q can break through Riven's shield at any point in the game and he is tanky enough to the point where Riven can't burst him down.

How can you lose to that trainwreck now? Are you standing still the whole time or letting him get minion kills?

He is broken but toward the "unplayable" side of it.

Most of my experience was playing against him as Riven and not being able to farm near him and getting tower dove and 2 shot.

So you lost to him with a no mana, hyper mobile AD tanky fighterwith AoE hard CC?

Have you even cared about reading new Morde skills? Or did you just expect to rofl over him and get squished out your safety bubble?

To be fair, Riven is actually in a pretty bad spot against the juggernaut reworks. New Garen, Darius, and Morde all take dumps on her in lane.

Mid-game, Morde doesn't bully her that much. But Riven CANNOT cheese Morde with the popular cheese-style. First of all, because he gets tanky while having a melee dominance ability. Second, his new E passive gives him a tankiness steroid that is on a lower cooldown than her abilities.

And honestly, Riven shield is only strong if she maxes it first or has a lot of AD.

Early game, is a different story. He denies Riven so much farm that she needs immediate ganks or he'll force her to do nothing to turret farm until she has an item or two.

I wasn't talking about Riven general situation but about her vs Morde.

Riven has the potential (on paper, still haven't faced her myself) to shut down Morde since the begin expecially because in solo lane Morde can't get back his hp at all, building spellvamp doesn't solve anything since E damage is so low and her can go in- stun go out freely caring only about not getting hit by his 3rd Q.

The armor + 5 pots actually works pretty well with him when solo. Not to mention that he'd roll a heal summ in sololane.

The difficulty with Riven vs Morde early game, is actually mainly his E. If he hits you, he gets more shield than you take by the dash stun on him.

The 15% bonus total shield per champ hit adds a lot of tankiness to him, which forces either risky all-ins or tower farming. So he's pretty inconvenient to lane against as Riven.

The shield never decaying down past 25% is also annoying for Riven players.

Becuase you have to lure things, if he is saving his hp with his shield he is the one luring you so he is outplaying you.

actually, mordekaiser can tank 1-2 tower shots with his shield, so he can walk right up to a minion wave under tower and blast both the champion and the minions, then walk away without losing any hp

mordekaiser's only real weakness...as it always has been...is being outdamaged to the point that he can't raise his shield (the new bottom lane wombo combo pairs prevent this so long as he shuts down either the support or adc or both)

or his ability to be ganked to death in top lane

his W was actually a small but important part of his top laning kit, now equally replaced with a free even stronger than his last Q on solo hit ability

he's not optimal, but when he can chunk 70% of a tank's hp when building tanky, he has clear strengths and his kiteable nature isn't much of a weakness with the right support

then champs like quinn/teemo top, he can eat them alive because they have no durability, and that was the old mordekaiser...this one deals roughly the same damage and even more in close quarters, so a flash initiate(well, against teemo since quinn will probably E away) or any of the other ranged tops will pretty much force them to return to base

Get better at Riven.

And you were top??? All you need to do is NOT let him get near you when he has his Q thats all. A stun or slow will disable him like it always did but now he's even more helpless.

Morde is far from strong, the update was a direct nerf to an already deficient champ and I bet you only lost to him now cause you never really got to play against it before.

Counterplay? Don't get close to him.

Is new Mordekaiser balanced? He is so useless once enemies figure him out that Urgot is rofling.

Yeah the only counter I've really noticed for him is just ranged champs and people with lots of poke.

Stars Shaper1 votes

Riven should be good too since she has hyper mobility and hard cc.

Him ulting dragon is fucking ridiculous. You're more likely be winning if you have a morde on your team so when he gets dragon he can get a 4 man push on to a turret and down it very quickly. The enemy team who doesn't have wave clear are f***ed. This rework is horrible, I don't see how nerfing him would make him any better. He has too much utility, to much bully power, too much sustain, and too much damage. What the point of public testing if they don't listen to the feed back :/

3TWarrior1 votes

lol, look at the posts above about range countering him. With an initiator support, he'll just smash their range into the ground and likely pick up a kill ^^

Kelg1 votes

Play Ashe, Morde can't do crap against her.

3TWarrior1 votes

malphite support is one thing, nautilus is another, thresh probably too...chogath, maokai, basically, if he gets anyone tanky with crowd control, he will be in range to chunk hp without a tradeoff and if there are no minions to protect you, you will retreat or you will die

Daftedpunk1 votes

ok honesty if you wanna just counter play Morde just play swain support or something, you will literally make him not want to play Mord ever again Swain > Mordekaiser

Azir is probably one of his main counters. But ya just ranged poke and ranged cc in general. And mobility. He can only catch up too u if u let him. He relies on items for slows and mobility other than flash, Sprint, or Heal.
