Leaverbuster - Working as intended?

Hello,

I understand the concept of leaver buster, and what it is trying to do for the community I am writing this, as 5 of us are waiting for a 10 minute timer before we can join a match, our 4th one of the night.

I've been playing league of legends for a little over a year, and I really enjoy the game and the content. I especially like the amount of effort and enthusiasm Riot employees show.

I recently ran into a problem, when playing with friends, and one of which is overseas, and the connection to the servers is not always great and sometimes disconnect on him, or he gets the black screen with the error message about the game cannot connect.. anyway, he has contacted Riot support and received very little effort to help.

riot markets themselves as a game created by gamers, and I can't imagine why they would intentionally make this game harder for gamers to play. It's obvious that the leaverbuster in this case is closer to harassment than a determent (and the rest of us are just sadists for waiting for 40+ minutes tonight). It is making 4 players who have no history of game abandonment or other infringements waiting for a player who has connection issues, and general game play errors. I am wondering if anything can be done about this. As I am typing it, my friend is telling me its a waste of time(not sure what else to do while waiting for the 10 minute timer per game), so I would like to see him proven wrong - its a principle thing i am sure you understand.

Sounds like Riot is trying to tell that 5th player that his insistence on playing on an inappropriate server is negatively impacting the game experience of other players and he should be playing on a different server where he likely wouldn't be experiencing (or causing) quite so many problems.

I do appreciate your view point but if that is the case, then they would be promoting not playing with your friends, which is not something that i've ever noticed before. I am sure, plenty of people have had close friends have to move around - and because of that, you shouldn't be able to game with them? I am pretty confident, that isn't the case.

If 'playing with your friends' ruins games for others, then maybe the cost is too high?

And sure, the sentiment sucks, but so do the consequences of not doing anything.

Where are you getting the "ruins games for others" ? There are 5 of us waiting, meaning the only thing ruining the game for us, is the leaverbuster timer. If the 5 of us end up 1 person down due to connectivity issues, its still fun for us and always worth a try. What ruins the game for us, is the fact we have to wait the time in order to try to have fun.

Last I checked, most people I know would prefer to avoid 4v5s, even if they're on the '5' team. So, unless you're playing Co-op V AI, or Customs against bots, you're still impacting the gaming experience of others outside your group.

I honestly see no reason whatsoever that this player shouldn't be getting punished.

It's far more than just 1 person being punished. That's the problem that I have.

So you think his punishment should magically go away if he duo's up? That doesn't sound right at all. Your friend is ruining the game for other players. He should be punished. If you choose to que up with him, well then you should know the punishment.

I wish they were actually more strict on these kind of players.
