i think it's because it's NA that people can't climb fast enough and it is S6 preS7 which we recently had to suffer through.
S6 I saw Diamond players fall to Gold and stay gold, yet they still dominate once Riot's mathcmaking finally gives them "Not Supp".
Some still climbed into Platinum. But after seeing them go from playing obsessively to no longer playing at all, made me pretty much lose faith in Ranked. Now i only play with players that I know i will lose with and that is the only time i play Ranked, as a duo with really bad players, cause then if i win it was deserved, if i lose, it was also deserved. Otherwise, i'd go insane XD.
S6 was that season where Bronze players climbed into Gold thanks to "Queue Boosting" and now that things changed with Solo/Duo being back, they go deeper and deeper in bronze unless they grind out games and actually abuse the system the old fashion way by not getting supp and picking a FOTM champ that is easy or somewhat easy to play.
Finally saw one of my Gold friends finally hit gold right off the bat and stay in Gold as a Supp main, mostly spamming Supps.
I was happy for the guy. Now he rarely logs on, seems S6 took its toll and forced him away to Overwatch and Singleplayer only games.
S6 forced so many old-school players away. Even the hardcore D1/Barely stayed in Challenger and lost it after a week "i only play League" types that were at one point the shit. But then everything changed once S6 arrived and they get hardstuck in Plat 3-1 and give up. They come back, stomp a game or two only to never show themselves again for weeks. Then, they comeback in Pre-S7 MMR/matchmaking was so busted they go Silver or Bronze, then once it is fixed grind back into D5, grind more into D2, and give it all up to play Overwatch, Dota2 (and Dota sucks), Smite, or Starcraft 2 (and this game is dying, legit dying) after the reset. No point in trying to go through it seemed. Now my Bronze ass is teaching them how to get into Plat/Diamond in Overwatch and some have even long since surpassed me in StarCraft 2 (where i suck, but im happy they found a mechanically and strategically intensive game they can obsess about).
I deserve low elo, but it really made me switch my priorities to only playing for fun and with friends, no other reason to play the game.
Unlike my friends who no longer play League and switched to something else since they were so more heavily invested into the game than i ever was (maybe because i bragged about how much more fun i had with other games and that might have convinced them).
LoL is still fun, but it is no where near as fun as it was back in my day. It was more like 'Nam then, a cluster fuck of a mess, then strategy got back into the game, and then Riot took it away and made it worse than S3's lack of strategy and only about the champ or individual mechanics (i miss old Sion's shitty design sometimes, and im stupid for thinking that), but the current state of LoL is so much more awful in that you lost game so soon and only have to deal with the formality of "playing" the game for another 20 minutes as wave management and strategy of stalling no longer win games as often as S4 and especially S5 (S5 was awful balance wise, but overall was relatively healthier than what we went through S6 and Pre-S7).
