ryze from über god to worse than a minion

so with the juggernaut meta i was wondering.. since ryze was my main untill riots catastrophic rework of him culminating in patch 5.10 and then nerfed to a win rate in the low 40's now and he is really useless now.. remember back pre rework.. ryze was one of the only magic bruisers, so he should be in the juggernaut meta.. when will riot address this failure either with recalling the rework and keeping the old ryze with q being a skillshot and the new graphics or a completely new rework, that is actually thought through.. i dont play ranked myself, but ryze mains who do will be really fck'd up by riots wrong doing.. us who just loves the game and love ryze as he ,atleast was, a special champion with his mana scaling, its simply just wrong.. i get really salty when i play a champ that should be the arcane magic incarnate and he cant even kill a cannon minion -_-.. might be a bit exagerated, but he is really really bad... he needed nerfs after rework... but i thought the days of olaf'ing a champ was over.. riot be ashamed! especially doing this to one of your oldest champs.

know its an old thred now.. and yeah just needed to play him abit more... he can melt anyone, but can also be countered nicely.. i dont agree building ap instead of mana at the start with him.. if you build once you get tear and hit 6 you can combo your enemy laner easily with only that tear... building ap youwill lack mana for a longer combo fire but do more damage per ability... building mana you do less damage per ability but fire many more abilities of without running oom in essence the same damage output smaller combo with ap or longer combo with mana... and when you get the catalyst you also get some tankiness.. plus if you plan to build those items you better build them first as its a stacking build and with games being a bit faster now its important to get that stacking started... also the new base mana every champ got ncluding ryze when they removed the mana pot i can honestly feel in the first few levels damage wise aswell.. thunderlords masterie isnt too shabby either... you can build ap if you get blue.. but i dont as i play him top.. but i will hold on to my thought and feel that my old main is destroyed with this rework cause my god he has become boring as fck to play.. and issue i also saw a rioter point out in much more politically correct words and they would alter stuff once again on him to make him more fun to play.. which im happy about... but yes i still miss old ryze and atleast will untill i see and get to feel those changes .

I honestly hate how EVERY champion has to have complex kits now.. I understand xin and shit isn't exactly fun for a lot of people.. But that doesn't mean every champion needs to be a complex multi passive high skill cap champion. -_-

i agree on that statement.. the game needs champs like xin, garen and yi and the likes... Ryze does not fall into this catagory as such, but depending on where you play him he is pretty easy to pick up and succeed with.. top lane is really easy in most match up.. mid is way harder, still manageable as the pros are showing starting with faker.. others have now joined succesfully... i just find he has too many counters in mid for me to play.. im not a high elo player, so probably just need practice.. lets just say stuns are funnily enough not to ryze's liking... a good brand player who hits his stun reliably, lissandra, annie especially so on are really champs i would not like picking ryze into... apart from lissandra, not many of such champs are seen on top, so he really excels here... tanks can be nasty to fight, but at level 6 tanks arent really that tanky especially with the burst ryze has at 6.. so just farm to 6 under turret if you have to unless you get jungler help.. get tear.. all in as soon as you can after reaching 6.. and snowball from there.. dont be shy to ult the waves either.. some matchups are more complex.. like gnar.. its like playing garen vs gnar really.. wait untill right at the point he comes from mega gnar to normal gnar and then nuke him... then seldom yasuo tops have that windwall that can really be a hassle.. need to learn to kite that windwall and such.. but its not hard to learn really.. mastering him is another thing tho.. but you can within a few matches win most match ups on top with him

I havnt tried Ryze again since his first day after rework.. Didnt like how his Q got blocked by minions.. couldnt figure out how to make him work in lane lol

lolz gotta play him more than that to learn the new champ he is.. you missed him on patch 5.10 then.. that was abit overpowered.. didnt play a normals those two weeks without getting over 30 kills haha... most broken champ ive ever played... now he is more balanced in my oppinion.. although the only counter play is to cc him when he engages and get out of his range really

I'm not much of a mage player to be honest.. I usually play Assassins or Bruisers. (AD 80% of the time)

..... I really don't get why Ryze apparently sucks now.

I've been using him on and off and normals, and his damage is fucking staggering. I have not laned against a single champion or even met one who I couldn't melt once I got my core items. I was Ryze top, and our Riven mid fed a Cho'gath and was telling me not to fuck with him because Cho is spooky, and I completely annihilated him with my combo.

And then, I watched a friend of mine's game in spectator mode, and, no joke, a Ryze legitimately 1v4'd. They all dogpiled him, all had over half health, but with Arcane Mastery and Desperate Power he just killed them all. It was fucking nuts.

So, idk, he seems plenty powerful to me. I don't see why people are having so much issue.

The trick to playing Ryze is to build him like an ordinary mage... What I mean is like... don't rush mana on him, just build damage first There's really no point in building any mana on him at all The damage bonus you get from building mana is like 100 on all abilities That's not a whole lot compared to just building pure AP

Ryze can have like 60.896% magic penetration with a maxed out E, voidstaff, and devastating strikes mastery.
