Vladimir, the Hemomancer

So, mid-season's permabanned champion winner...

Vladimir is a very interesting champion when it comes to 'balance'. This is well known because of Vladimir's nerfs throughout the entire season and he kept kicking back up...

Riot decided to nerf him a couple times starting with:

Patch 6.13, the nerf of tank Vladimir.

  • Nerfed his base damage on Q at all ranks from 80/100/120/140/160 to 75/90/105/120/135.
  • (Slight compensation for his base nerf) Ratio up to 0.55 from 0.45, still a nerf due to the amount of time it takes to recieve that much AP.

From this point Vladimir was still a pick or ban type champion, so Riot decided to tone him down even more (I'm glad they did).

Patch 6.16, the nerf of Vladimir's safety and survivability

  • Movement speed down from 335 to 330
  • W cooldown increased from 26/23/20/17/14 to 28/25/23/19/16 seconds

This nerf was just to see if Vladimir was still strong, even after the nerfs, which he was.

Patch 6.18, The end of Vladimir's solo queue strength.

  • Base HP lowered from 550 to 525
  • Crimson Rush healing (Empowered Q) lowered to 30-200 (1-18) from 40-240 (1-18)
  • Cooldown on E increased on early ranks to 13/11/9/7/5 from 9/8/7/6/5 seconds

From this point on Vladimir was pretty dead in Solo Queue, evidence showing his winrate dropped to around 45% throughout the patch. There wouldn't be anymore need for Vladimir nerfs.

Patch 6.20, Post-Worlds random Vladimir change/mini-nerf?

  • Q Heal Ratio increased from 0.15 to 0.35
  • Q Heal recieved from minions down to 35% from 50%
  • E health ratio decreased, ap ratio decreased (Nerf to tank Vladimir, again)
  • E Missile width increased from 40-60 (Easier to creep block, harder to hit)
  • E Missiles shot down to 15 from 20 (Easier to creep block, harder to hit)

This change barely did anything to Vladimir, but he was pretty much already dead...

Now Vladimir ended up as quite an underpowered pick with a very low winrate, although he's done getting nerfs to him directly. Riot has nerfed and are still nerfing his core items...

Patch 6.22, Hextech Protobelt Nerf

  • AP ratio down to 0.25 from 0.35
  • Damage per additional bolt down to 20% from 30%

The nerf to Protobelt was pretty much necessary as it was a strong item, but it was also Vladimir's core item that made him more useful than his state right now...

So, this was all the nerfs that Vladimir has recieved from this day on the live servers... Surrender at 20, has released Rylai's Crystal Scepter's TENTATIVE nerfs on patch 6.23. If these nerfs go live to Rylai's Crystal Scepter, Vladimir will have been officially gutted (not that he already is). I'm down to Rylai's nerfs as it is... Mages most overpowered item in this current meta, but Vladimir's already weak and is going to become weaker.

Patch 6.23, TENTATIVE Rylai's Crystal Scepter NERF

  • Total Cost lowered to 2600 from 3200
  • Health lowered to 300 from 400
  • AP lowered to 75 from 100

Passive: Damaging spells and abilities will slow enemies by 20%.

This is a huge nerf because the slow was reduced by 20% for single target abilities (Vladimir's Q). It's also worst late game for Vladimir (his strongest state) because it takes up a slot for a stronger item because of the stat changes.

To be clear I'm not asking for Rylai's Crystal Scepter nerf to be reverted. I'm simply asking to aid Vladimir, buff him. He's in a terrible state. The worst top laner right now AND mid laner. Not to mention the removal of one of his strongest keystones (Strength of the Ages). I'll let you decide on this one.

Peace, a fellow Vladimir player.
