"Haha You Think Riot Uses the PBE for Testing"

VentusDragoon··7 votes·742 views

For anyone who's browsing the boards, you can see on the top thread (No one is actually testing the AP items on the PBE) that a ton of the comments are people saying crap about Riot and stuff like "they don't actually pay attention to anything the players say" or "they don't pay attention to the PBE at all."

And I'd just like to step in and say that you guys give Riot too much crap. They're a game company, and while we're lucky enough to have some like Meddler and Repertoir visit the boards pretty often, not all of them have the opportunity to do so. They're trying hard for this stuff, and trust me, they definitely do pay attention to things the players say. You can't see it but there was a Riot post on the PBE where they specifically said they were delaying a skin set just because the players didn't think it was good enough.

You guys say Riot doesn't care, but they certainly do. I won't even attempt to stand for those who just use the PBE for free stuff and playing URF or trying useless stuff and never actually testing, but the PBE, Riot, and the players on the PBE that actually do their job are great people, and I honestly think they deserve better than you guys treat them often on the boards. People say the PBE is toxic but actually find the people who are there to do their jobs-- they're incredibly nice people and will do what they can to help you test whatever you need.

Also.

If you're not on the PBE.

You don't have the right to say "They don't pay attention to the PBE," because you have no way of actually telling what they do on there. I don't mean to sound mean, but honestly, guys.

[slayer-jinx-wink] Love ya, Riot. Keep up the good work.

As a PBE user, I do have this to day.

We try, we actively and truly try to get Riot to accept our feedback and criticism when it comes to changes on the PBE, but any negative feedback from us literally goes ignored. We simply cannot get through to this company about any bad choices they make. It's like trying to get a brick wall to make you a cup of coffee, it's just not going ti happen no matter how much you yell and scream and plead and beg at it. Its frustrating at times for PBE players like myself who have to stand there, test all these over powered items/champs/whatever and watch helplessly as they are pushed to live despite our negative critique of them to Riot.

Riot doesn't treat its player base with respect and the PBE player base is no different.

You have to understand that they are a company and the PBE is not their only consultants as well. No, they don't listen to every single thing we say, and yes, it does often come out for the worse. But it's in their hopes that if they test on live as well, they can find more than the limited audience the PBE provides-- a sample size unrivaled in collecting data.

However, especially recently I've noticed, they have been listening to players on the PBE-- halting an entire skin line from release, and even the new AP items have been removed from the PBE for the time being, assumedly for rebalancing. They do certainly listen, several rioters have taken to the boards in the past to confirm this. But they can't 100% go by the PBE feedback all the time, because believe it or not, we've been wrong before. Remember when everyone said the new Darius and Skarner were way too underpowered? Then that got pushed to live and they turned out to be way too overpowered.

The community doesn't give Riot nearly enough "crap". Riot is up there with companies like EA, Activision, Gearbox et al for being dishonest and exploitative, but unlike those other companies people like you actually defend Riot.

Are ya serious? Exploitative? What sweat shops do they own? Which children do they starve?

You can only think Riot is an evil globo-corp if you know nothing of the world, or are 15 and think what happens to you is the worst.

Here, read this link and get some perspective: http://www.thelocal.de/20160411/nearly-6000-refugee-children-missing-in-germany

Did you actually read the comment that you just replied to?

What sweatshops do EA, Activision or Gearbox own? What are you even talking about?

I thought it was pretty clear. Dishonest and exploitative isn't something video games are rightfully accused of unless you don't know what those words mean. Who did any of those companies exploit?

Dishonest means saying things that aren't true. I hope that's clear. Do we need to talk about times that all of those companies have said things that aren't true? How ridiculous do you want to make this conversation?

Exploitative means unfairly or cynically using or manipulating people for your advantage. It doesn't require sweatshops. Lying to your customers to get money from them is exploitative.

Are we done? Because I feel like participating in this conversation is making me stupider.

It doesn't seem, from your answers, that that's possible.

You don't know what exploitative means. Enjoy your free game, and don't give them money if you don't want to.

I just told you what the word literally means and explained why it could be applied to game companies. You are objectively, factually wrong. For some reason you've decided that you get to make up definitions for words when you feel like it.

But who am I kidding, nobody admits they're wrong on the internet. No matter how idiotic the point they tried to make has been proved to be.

But you can't tell me who they're exploiting. I assume it's because you don't know.

Except I already did exactly that.

You have some serious issues with reading comprehension. Among other things.

Riot is not a company. They made 1 game. A game ripped off blatantly from another.

I don't think you understand what a company is then.

I didn't realize how commercial Riot was

Of course they care about skins, skins are their main income. Skin that no one buy is basically a waste of money for them.
