Riot, Akali mains are speaking, You said you would cater to us, Then listen to us

RustyLazer··9 votes·1,081 views

I have been playing Akali for the last year and a half and me and every other Akali main has said that we don't like these changes. The community is clearly dissatisfied with these changes and we haven't heard anything pertaining to fixing them yet. This is a problem because we are so close to the pre season and we don't know what you're doing to our favorite champion. From what I've read, you wanted the Akali changes to be tailored towards mains, and almost all the mains are speaking against the changes. Please listen to the community. Because we ARE the community. Oh and can you guys revert her passive back to Live as of Nov 4 2016.? Here is a link of a master tier Akali 1 trick who will no longer player Akali after rework. Akali Akali Akali Akali Akali Akali Akali Akali Akali Akali Akali Please Riot.. Don't cuck our champion...

Sigh Where to start, where to start? There isn't anything in the board itself, it it all in the video so I guess I am arguing against that. Prove a point and link to the post but it is all in video really. Some player's opinion who I don't want to argue against. But I have to. I will argue against him as evidence used on this board and not the player himself.

There are multiple problems everywhere in his video so lets start from the beginning to end. I will break this into segments and sub-segments for better organization.

  1. One Trick Players- I) The player in this video is a one trick player, which mean they play one champion and ONLY one champion throughout the whole game. Like Riven players (as they are the best example for this) they are exceptional proficient with their champion, knowing every damage, cooldowns, and ranges spot on. They know how to use the champion to the best possible play. As hey know everything about their champ, any change, big or puny, effects them heavily. If an ability lost ten damage, they would notice that in every way possible, from damages to minions to trading in laning phase to actual combat, they notice that 10 damage difference. There could be an increase a .01 second increase on an ability and would state that hundredth of a second killed them or cost them a kill. These players are NOT an accurate representation for a group of people that play a champ. II) The fact that this player in the video is a one tricker means he is gravely effected about everything! He was complaining about how the 2 second at all rank ult would screw everyone over. To that, I say how does a second on an ult that everyone else deems unfair to face against matter? It is bad enough that her ult cost a charge and not energy so she can keep chasing everyone. No on can easily run away from her and escape one v one. Crowd control doesn't matter because she gets three dashes. Unless you are Morgana, there is no way any champions cc will be enough to get rid of her. For everyone else, a two second at all ranks means only a glimmer of breath that the may escape. III) Aside from the exaggeration of those details that one tricks feel, they do not represent at all the overall player base of that champion. Because there is over 130 champions, a pool that will continue to grow, millions of players have found, lets say, 6 champions that they like, enjoy and play frequently. These players know these champions and how to play all of them but no where near to the level of a one trick, obviously. These players need more then a 10 damage change or .01 cd change in order to feel something. These are the people that Riot are catering to (My guess), because majority of the 100 million players on LoL play more than one champ seriously. You know, the players that would be more concerned about kit based things. IV) Which brings to the topic of how one trick players completely fail to see how their champion is related to other champions and the game. When I see Akali, I see a Weeping Angel getting closer every time I attempt to turn around and run, they keep getting closer to me until--- Poof. Dead. Because one tricks are so accustom to their champions, they see 'weakness' that their champion has and find it thus to be balanced, a weakness that other players cannot see or utilize for their advantage. So doing anything to make them healthier makes these players whine about how the 'noobs' are not capable of playing the champion well so now they need to deal with a weakened champion, while the rest of us can get a sight breather on that ability. Say Akali's ult. If in a 1v1, just in a ideal chasing potential, of all assassins, Akali is the hardest to get away from. Where other champions have their gap closers on a one time use, Akali has it three times, and once again, it cost a charge and not energy. So the counter play in this is..... to hope she dashes at you again while you are just running away? Wasting a charge? Impractical.

  2. Elo Players I) In this video, this guy said that Riot is nerfing her for the other players who do not play her well: Platinum players- a group of which I say that knows a specific champion well, if they main them, and know how to play them but apparently not- Gold, Silver, Bronze, and the kicker... Diamond! We can debate about Platinum another day but Diamond? Really, Diamond? These high elo players not knowing how to play a champion (that they main) well and is classified as a noob by this guys standard? No. Not only are these group of player most certainly know how to play her, they can play her just as well (There is still growth, perhaps, but they know what they are doing). This Master Player has that attitude of I am better than everyone else. But instead of saying "I am better than all of you," he says "Anyone underneath me will suck at their performance of my champion." II) So when he says Diamond and below do not know how to play her and are noobs, he clearly says that Riot should be paying attention to Master and Challenger players, players whose percentage of the player base is extremely small. Pay attention to those "pro" players and make decisions based on them and ignore the other 99.99999% of players who play LoL. This is where they claim that their champion is not broken because who they have as opponents know how their champions work and know how to against with them. They do not consider the, oh, 100,000,000 people playing that is not at that high of elo. Thus, they feel copped out by the majority of people who do not perform her as well- and by those that do not know how to combat her- and have to relearn her as a result. This isn't Yorick. She is the same with damage, cooldown and duration of abilities (w) differences. Want to relearn someone? Try Yorick.
III) They do not consider the fact that they are the minority in LoL, so they feel cheated whenever a champion of theirs has been changed. They do not consider the fact that there are millions more players than them. They do not consider the fact that if a champion is getting a nerf, that means others are playing them well. They do not consider the fact that others who fight that champ are dying to them easily or unfairly if they are getting a nerf. They do not consider the fact that other players do not have a clue how to deal with a champion, so "counter play" becomes huge for Riot (Just a speculation).

  3. The "Community" of Akali Mains I will make this quick- One tricks are not part of the main community as they would argue differently from everyone else. It is like Riven mains saying: "No, Riven is kind of weak. Her laning phase is 'ehh' and she is easy to kite. She is squishy as heck and isn't that big on damage without her passive. Her ult is a one time use and can be evaded easily. Most importantly, she needs a gold advantage. No advantage equals no win." While everyone else says: "Riven is OP as hell. She is way too mobile- easy escape or easy engage- and can switch between retreating and in your face attacking, prepare to die when you have stopped chasing her, in a second. Her ult seems to always be up whenever a fight starts and that cone width and length is hard to avoid. Shutting her down is hard and she is always seems to be on top of things." One tricks view their champion as either fine or somewhat weak while everyone views them as way too strong. As such, the "One Trick Akali Community" does not represent anyone. I certainly hate having an Akali ult me 3 times and never lose her. Too bad I am not a Master player who knows how to combat just that when the situation occurs.

PookeyTheCat2 votes

Yeah let's leave it for the players that don't have a fkin clue what they are doing on that champion, who are in way way lower ELO than this guy, and can barelly squeeze 50% win rate on her. Why do we have to listen to player, who actually knows how the games are won on that champion, what are the strengths and weaknesses at any point of the game of that champion... why would we listen to that player saying "that was her strength and it got removed"? Sure let's dumb down the champion so that lower ELO's could win more games. It's not like those lower ELO's are losing because they don't know what they are doing, no, no, no, they are losing because the champion is weak (let's ignore that it is possible to climb to Master (BAFL) and Challanger (LonesomeRanger) playing only akali - it contradicts my argument).

And now satire aside - srsly wtf are you saying? This champion has obviously high skill requirement to play it well at higher ELO, but just because you're too lazy to put in work into learning how to play the champion and die like retard relying on your shroud too much, it doesn't mean champion was bad and needed rework.

If you're too lazy to learn the champion, then don't play it. But well, lucky you... RIOT is on your side ready to dumb her down to your level so you could play her better. Good guy RIOT.

Hell let's do the same for Vayne and Lee sin - so that lower ELO's could have easier time

EDIT: Wait what the heck? I just looked at your profile... you haven't even touched akali even in normals... why the heck are you even arguing? You main fkin thresh...........i should have checked before i wrote this comment.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

First off, I have played Akali in normals. She isn't my cup of tea.

Secondly, even though you have sarcasm, what you say is correct: the actual problem is they, as the player, are not as smart and thus lose. Chasing in unwarded terrain is a good example. You are completely correct in what you say. People can be in bronze and master a champion. Elo does not equate mastery of a champion. When in lower elo, it is the matter of lack of knowledge in everything that makes a person fall but champion mastery does not equate to that. But then you target and attack me for not knowing how to play her. First off (I understand it is a long post) you misinterpret my post. I was never criticizing how hard she is to play, I was criticizing the logical fallacies behind the guy in the video, taking about the problems in One Tricking (1), how elo representation is part of the masses (2) and again talking about how One Tricks in higher elo do not represent anything (a conclusional recap of the two) (3).

I do not know where you got confused but if you are going to attack me, understand what I am saying. I was talking about the guy in this post video and the fallacies that were presented. I only used Akali as means of counter example, like using her ult and how the huge 2 second cool down ult at all ranks will destroy her when everyone else is screaming that is too short. I never said she was OP (I don't think) nor have I ever said she was hard to play. I jut said that Master One Trick Players do not have much of a say because they are a silver in knowledge of how she is as enemy: you understand how she works and what she can do, but you have no clue how to deal against her nor how to combat her post laning phase.

Like seriously, if you one trick, you cost games if the champion you play is either banned or chosen before you. Why? Because you have no clue how to play anyone else.

PookeyTheCat1 votes

Not a single mastery point on her - you probably played her in bots .. that's not sufficient.

http://www.lolskill.net/summoner/NA/Ark%20Sorcerer/champion-masteries

Higher ELO does mean you understand said champion better than lower ELO...Having higher mastery at said champion = winning more games on said champion than the other guy. Hence the climb in ELO. In case of akali, in order not to fall off, you usually have to win your lane. She's snowball champion. You need to be good at her to climb. Teamfights are entirely different matter - you need even better understanding of champion limits.

Don't take it as an attack.. consider it as a critique, where vulgarisms are used for artistic purposes- i have no reason to attack you, nor i care about you.

Vistha Kai1 votes

Or he could play her before the Champion Mastery was a thing.

PookeyTheCat1 votes

You mean when she was different than it is now? It would still be incompetence.

Vistha Kai2 votes

The biggest change she got since Champion Mastery was added, was reducing the cooldown of E and apparently only "stupid monkeys" spam Akali's E, so I fail to see how that's relevant.

If she was actually meaningfully changed, then I would be able to understand your sentiment, but she wasn't.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGNtfhjr834

The above web address is a Lux with 2.5 million mastery points. Guess what? This player is in bronze. Watch the video and see how well Lux is played. Elo does not mean how well you play a champion. Does that mean I can get Master to get Ivern and play him perfectly? If you would argue he is new, then what about a champion they have never touched before? Just because they are in high elo does not mean you play champions perfectly. Elo does not mean how well you play a champ, it shows how good you are as a player. The player makes the fault of chasing or not recalling, not the champion. Two different things.

EDIT: Forgot to mention something: There are others like this. Go to YouTube and find other players in low Elo with high mastery points. This all goes against your argument that higher elo = better at a champion.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

"Having higher mastery at said champion = winning more games on said champion than the other guy. Hence the climb in ELO." How wrong you are. How unfortunate you are one of these players that truly believe Points = Better. Then you have neither seen my friend or play a One for All game. My friend (unfortunately) farms rank with his champion, meaning he plays them for the sake of playing them only to get higher rank with them.

Here is a video. Listen to this guy who has ethos on LoL, maybe not in any specific champion, but most certainly in LoL as a whole.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5dgULZ_swk

Do watch it. While it may be his opinion, he goes over in a logical manner as to why he think the way he does. (While you are at it, watch his other videos and educated yourself about the game....[and support him]).

PookeyTheCat1 votes

Dude, i'm talking about pears and you're talking about apples.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

I am talking about pears, you are talking about a specific species of pears. I am talking about the masses, you are talking about the Higher Elos (By guys vid standards- Master and higher) I am talking about the ~97% of League of Legends, you are talking about ~3% of players.

I am trying to bring you down to the other ~97% so you can see where I am going from. You are staying at the top, and blindly arguing from there as well.

Vistha Kai1 votes

This champion has obviously high skill requirement to play it well at higher ELO, but just because you're too lazy to put in work into learning how to play the champion and die like retard relying on your shroud too much, it doesn't mean champion was bad and needed rework.

There are champions which have kits requiring mastering and game knowledge, and then there are champions which have simple kits and only require game knowledge.

The former are called "high skill cap champions" and the latter are called "low skill cap champions".

Sorry to break it to you, but Akali is the latter.

PookeyTheCat1 votes

You don't need to be sorry for anything, just spit it out the way you want to say it - it's internet after all.

Yes, and those changes that completely force you to relearn that "game knowledge" part of the game regarding her are being disliked. That's why you're in this thread to begin with.

Vistha Kai1 votes

You don't need to be sorry for anything

That's just a figure of speech. I'm never sorry for what I say, because I always mean what I say.

Yes, and those changes that completely force you to relearn that "game knowledge" part of the game regarding her are being disliked.

I need a translation.

That's why you're in this thread to begin with.

I'm here, because I loathe people trying to defend cancer designs.

Like that guy from OP's video saying "Her new passive is garbage". Of course it is because that's the biggest problem with Akali, you biased "monkey".

PookeyTheCat1 votes

I'm here, because I loathe people trying to defend cancer designs. Like that guy from OP's video saying "Her new passive is garbage". Of course it is because that's the biggest problem with Akali, you biased "monkey".

If that's your standpoint, pardon me, i have no desire to chat with you.

Vistha Kai2 votes

My standpoint is that chat about gameplay balance and champion health is to be had if the side starting a discussion (in this case an Akali main) is willing to leave their bias at the door.

The person in the video is highly biased and only reviews the changes from his selfish perspective. "Don't change Akali at all" is his stance. "Only noob monkeys have problems with Akali" is his stance.

I'm not going to be considerable about such a person in a conversation.

When my main was being changed I was against it, not because it wasn't beneficial for me - it was - but because it'd make the champion toxic to deal with for others. That's called "objectivity".

I have yet to see objectivity coming from Akali mains/one-tricks.

PookeyTheCat1 votes

You're taking things too literally. Just think of why he said that, what did he try to express, that should do it. Don't take every vulgarism seriously.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

No, you are taking things too lax. What he says are great points, especial the guy (from the video) exceptionally biased point of view. Exaggerating how everything is going to be garbage, how that 2 second ult will destroy her all the while everyone else is struggling to run away from her even at lv 6 to 10.

[In honesty, and I do mean complete and utter honesty, I want to say: 'He hasn't even tested it out and yet he is making all these conclusions' but unfortunately that would mean I should also accept the fruit thing Riot wants to do in the jungle with Season 7, because I haven't tried it yet I am hating it. While I may not be saying how this will 'murder us junglers', I still don't like so unfortunately I am not saying the above statement]

PookeyTheCat1 votes

Maybe.

People who tested it say they don't like it. And they aren't even one-tricks.

Vistha Kai1 votes

You're taking things too literally.

I don't.

  1. The guy is obviously butthurt and does mean those vulgarisms. Why I shouldn't take them seriously, if the guy is serious about them?
  2. I'm making fun of his stance quoting those things.
Ark Sorcerer3 votes

If that's your standpoint, pardon me, i have no desire to chat with you.

Then you are not willing to stand by and argue (in a civil manner- something you have not been doing too well) why she does not need these changes?

I have said once and I will say it again, you one trick players do not know how it feels like to be on the receiving end on your champion. You had mention somewhere that in higher elo, team cooperation is higher and thus being on that side is much harder.

{quoted}

Receiving end? Akali is shut down by coordination of your team, that's why it gets progressively harder to win with her the higher up the ladder you go, that's why she's not played in fkin LCS. If you were competent at discussing this, you would know this already. If you can't 1v1 akali, get the fk away from her range and stay with team. If you're low ELO, too bad (just hope she's not smurf, who actually knows what he's doing) 'cause she thrives on Chaos - that's one of her identities and trying to change that would be changing champion entirely.

You are correct in higher elo, but here is the thing, not even 5% of LoL players are Master and higher (I say Master and not Diamond because guy in video). I am talking in general, like a regular draft game. You have never been against a good Akali player because you only play her, thus taking that champion. So you have no clue what it is like to attempt to kill her, for her to kill you first, for you to try to escape and she catches up. You have never felt that frustration.

There is more then one side (perspective) to every story. The side of the none One Trick Akali players see a cancer champion who is hard to deal with post laning phase.

Nik Nikerson1 votes

Here's the thing: People always dislike changes to their main. Freaking Poppy mains complained when they changed her. Poppy was terrible on pretty much every level, and there are still mains that wish they could get the old version back. That doesn't mean the changes were bad.

Having to relearn how to play a champion is not an argument against changing them. If it were, no champion in the game would ever change, even if they should.

Vistha Kai1 votes

People always dislike changes to their main.

Not always. Most of the time. For example bug fixes or straight number buffs. Nobody dislikes that kind of changes for their main.

Most of the time.

Nik Nikerson1 votes

Someone should really introduce you to the concept of hyperbole. Hyperbole: exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally.

I mean it doesn't change my point, but you're right, I should have said, "People almost always dislike changes to their main that aren't straight buffs or big fixes."

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

Such rhetorical devices are hard to pick up in a non-English Class text, especially if you are given either an emotional driven topic, facing against someone emotional drive, the internet, or a not-even-long-enough-to-be-a-paper comment. Just saying.

Vistha Kai1 votes

It could be as easy as "People almost always dislike changes to their main".

Plus don't take jabs like that too personally.

You'd think the satire was rather obvious with repeated "most of the time", but people on the Boards seem less sensitive about it.

At least in Gameplay Balance.

Nik Nikerson1 votes

Honestly, I wasn't paying attention, and I thought you were someone else replying to me, as such read what you wrote within proper context, and blah blah blah... long story short, my response came out much snarkier than was intended.

Vistha Kai1 votes

No harm done.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

I wanted to retort that but I wasn't too sure. Seeing how she was played well for that guy in the video to get to Master, I was hesitant in saying that.
Thanks for the confirmation on that.

Jorencice3 votes

Honestly 1 tricks should get less say than people that never play her due to MASSIVE bias.

Now if you were just an akali main whateves

Ark Sorcerer3 votes

Agreed. They tend to say that every detail is important and changing one tiny thing destroys the champion. A person who has fought that champion can give more reliable input on if a champion is broken or not than a One Trick player.

PookeyTheCat1 votes

Honestly 1 tricks should get most say, because they have most experience in the matter. And this kind of idea is applied in pretty much every field in the world. What you're saying is similar to this:

Let's say the hospital budget is getting cut.. and the chairman of hospital critiques this budged cut because (let's say) there won't be enough vaccines for the people. So if we were following YOUR idea, we would be saying (insert retard voice here -->) "The chairman of the hospital should have l-l-less say in the matter b-because of MASSIVE bias - it's after all his hospital that gets the budget cut".

Do you realize now how stupid you sound?

Jorencice3 votes

Nice strawman...

Those 2 things have nothing to do with each other and you know it.

It would be more like a doctor being one of the only people who uses a certain type of surgery and the surgical board trying to change it to make it more accessible to everyone and easier to buff/nerf and old mr grump complaining his freelo is getting nerfed.

EVERYONE hates one tricks. They are absolutly worthless and cause the most toxicity when they go shit like akali support because they refuse to play other champs.

PookeyTheCat1 votes

Those two things are related in a different kind of relationship, which is they both state that you should accept critique from those who are the most competent/experienced at that field. That's just how world works - i have no desire to drag this disscussion any longer - it's pretty basic stuff.

One Tricks..i don't expect you to understand it, but i expect you to respect it as subjective preference. One tricks play only one champion because they ENJOY only that champion. Since games are for your enjoyment, in one trick case it comes down to League of Legends = X Champion. Some are satisfied by just playing said champion, others ENJOY seeing as to how much they can accomplish with that champion (ranked). Yes, you may get akali support, nunu support, azir support and many other non-meta picks on your team. You have the right to despise it, you have the right to condemn it openly or not, but you don't have a right to force them play anything else, so DEAL WITH IT. But bitching about it in forums just makes you look like pathetic person, nothing more.

Nik Nikerson1 votes

One tricks play only one champion because they ENJOY only that champion.

Which is why they have a difficult time seeing the flaws with their champion. They have a much harder time recognizing the things other people don't like about their champion, and are much more resistant to changes, even if those changes are healthy. One tricks tend to be a great source of information on the positives of a champion's design, but a really poor source on the negatives.

PookeyTheCat1 votes

Makes sense.

Jorencice1 votes

Except the needs of the many outweigh the needs on the few.

Lets use old evelyn as an example. SHe was absolutly neutered because she was simply way to powerful in lower ELOs.

Now according the the evelyn 1 trick ponys at the time the 97% of the playerbase haveing issues just needed to "Git Gud" so the 0.0001% that mains her could keep having fun.

Yep 1 tricks definalty arent biased....

PookeyTheCat1 votes

Ok, i agree with you. But in this case even decent amount of akali mains are having rough time liking the changes. I also dislike the changes of akali she feels worse than before.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

Those two things are not even comparable.

Last I check, hospitals are not are not killing and dying from other hospitals in some Death Royal fashion nor does that chairman know how to perform a surgery like a god.

One Tricks are not comparable to bosses of actual companies.

And no One Tricks shouldn't get the most say because they have never fought their champion. One tricks (O.T.) are players who look at LoL, look at the hundred plus champions and say "I love this one. Time to make a commitment" and never look at any other champion. Which is fine. There is no problem with that. You want to try one, cool. Wasted on you, sure, but cool. The problem comes in when they act like they are gods of their champion and no one can compete with them as they are best at them. They have a very limited point of view on their champ which.

O.T. can tell you how their abilities work in great detail (by damages I mean), people who face them can tell you how the abilities work and relates to other champions. They never try anything else thus they see that their champion is fair or slightly weak. Their perspective is a very false on. Akali is not weak. That 1 second increase on her ult won't destroy her.

PookeyTheCat1 votes

Read the reply to Jorencice - i have no desire to copy pasta.

Akali is SO HOT1 votes

Yeah I'm gonna put my faith in someone who doesn't even know the names of Akali's abilities rather than someone whose played her since season 3. Makes sense tbh.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

At least they can describe how she is OP. The One Trick will go up and down saying that she isn't and is rather weak, like the guy in the video saying how the changes will destroy her.

TyrekGoldenspear2 votes

Well have you ever thought of how it feels to be on the recieving end of her wrath?

The whole point of the assasin update was to make assasins no longer able to instqkill people, they had tp plan ahead and their burst was delayed just enough for people to counterplay.

Akali is one of those champs that will implode you. This is why changes were made.

Irelia Bot1 votes

I think we know and we also know that she has her banes.

A lot of players seem to be more frustrated with having to deal with marksmen then assassins these days.

Nik Nikerson1 votes

Because marksmen are more common than assassins these days. People will always complain more about the thing they encounter more often.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

Something One Trick players do not know of because (assuming they are playing draft) they take them and know not of the opposing end of the champion.

LBmyBB1 votes

You have to take into account that the game is CONSTANTLY changing. Akali is a long time champ that has trouble catching up. In order to maintain this "balance" of champion meta and gameplay, akali needs to change too.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

And so do the other assassins, am I right? Give them abilities resultem them harder to deal with and much more powerful. The game doesn't change in huge bits. Every change is so small that old champions can still be in the game.... it is just that they are old and are not played often, Like Yorick or Urgot. [Note, this comment is before sitting and watching that 20 minute video. I will go in more depth later]

Nik Nikerson1 votes

Yorick's problem wasn't that he was an old champion. It was that he was really poorly designed.
