Why in the hell people become tanky when they finish rod of ages? like, every time someone builds roa, they are almost tanking as a full tank champion. is it only for me or what?? like last game i had a nunu that had a deathcap, a void staff, pen boots and ofc a rod of ages and he was tanky almost as a full tank maokai in the same game, and thats bull****!

ROA takes 10m to finish correct? (fully upgrade) after about 10m of game time once constructed, a lot can happen...levels, more items, Nunu in your example you provided has good health scaling, as Nunu can be made to support tank quite well. Maokai is in the same boat as Nunu. Furthermore 'Full tank' Does not give much information on the build the Maokai used, runes and masteries also play a part. Maokai is not a health tank like say Garen or Sion.

maokai build: roa/mercurys/sunfire/visage/randuins and he tanks and deals small amounts of dmg, all ok here. nunu build: roa/deathcap/void staff/sorcerers

nunu could tank almost as he could, dont come to me with this bull pls "Rod of ages is a scaling item that only tank stat provided is hp. Nunu scaling on hp is strong in general" cause it still makes non sense...

today similiar situation: gragas

build: roa (ofc) / lucity boots / void staff / deathcap / sheen

he could tank as much as this galio of his team:

visage / roa / sunfire / ninja tabi null magic mantle

THIS IS F****** BULL!

Both games were in Howling abyss so the lvl advantage never gets that far

Rod of ages is a scaling item that only tank stat provided is hp. Nunu scaling on hp is strong in general. Why wouldn't it be with him being an off tank ap counter jungler?

two possible reasons:

  • people thought he was tanky, so they didn't blow big skills on him
  • he had a big level advantage
