Add Grievous wounds to Thorn mail?

This is a thought me and my friends have been sitting on for a while and I've been wondering. Would it be a good idea to add grievous wounds to Thorn mail, but reduce the damage it returns by five or ten percent?

I started thinking about this when I noticed that there aren't any grievous wounds items for pure tanks. As far as I can tell it's just Executioner's Calling (for AD bruisers and ADCs) and Morellonomicon (for AP bruisers and mages). I mentioned this to some of my pals and they all essentially said, "Why not put it on Thorn mail? It makes sense when you think about it."

So yeah, what if it applied grievous wounds for about 1.5 seconds when struck but in return the reflected damage on it was lowered? Although I can see how this would be problematic and cause Thorn mail to become far too overpowering against AA champs to allow actual build choice, but at the same time, I would like a to see pure tank players get a grievous wounds item without having to give up some of their durability. Or should we just stick with sacrificing survivability centered summoner spells and just use ignite, which personally, I don't like the idea of.

Any thoughts on this matter would be very appreciated.

Thornmail is typically used, not to make the autoattackers kill themselves on you, but to negate their sustain so they can't just heal through a tanks damage with lifesteal. It currently does it's job pretty well.

Grievous wounds as a mechanic is pretty terrible. Something that just says "you heal less now" is about as binary of a mechanic as you can have. Riot has actually said a long-term goal is to completely remove the mechanic from the game because it completely screws healer balance. You either make healers strong enough to get through grievous wounds and they're op when it's not present, or you make them balanced normally and make them completely shit when it's around.

So, if it's just an idea meant to give tanks a grevious wounds item, I'm going to say it's a bad idea, because there isn't much value in giving anyone that mechanic.

Grievous Wounds exists to counter healing.

The main healing adcs get is from lifesteal, which only applies to autoattacks.

Thornmail returns damage on autoattacks, cutting lifesteal away from autoattackers.

So Thornmail already had GW for most intents vs autoattackers. While it doesn't have GW vs mages or such, they wouldn't normally be autoattacking you lategame anyway.

Thornmail is already punishing to attack the champion that has it. You will never be able to outheal the reflect damage it does unless you build tons of Lifesteal (which can cripple you damage wise)
