Nexus Blitz has been out for a while. Here is some feedback/opinions
Going to preface that I mainly play supports/tanks. I'm not a damage-dealing kind of player
I have about 80~90 games played on the mode so far and its really fun, even moreso when it was first released. It's fast, and with that kind of speed, not too much thinking is required, so it truly is a fun game mode. That said, there are some things about the mode that have become sour and can readily be fixed, adjusted, or atleast taken into consideration. I will go through many of them here (I may get the blessing names wrong).
Blessing of the Aegis
People have already aired their grievances on this one, so I won't beat the dead horse. Essentially, its kinda cheesy that for about 2030 seconds, and enemy can charge at you without any repercussions. **I know the shield lasts indefinitely, but 2030 seconds is about how long the shield lasts before chip/random damage gets rid of most of it, at least for many players.** The GA blessing I'm fine with however as with that you can still be punished for being too much of a fool
Wrath of the Hunter
Normally, I wouldn't have a problem with this, however, there has been this strategy creeping up when players get Wrath of the Hunter, they also buy the Ghostwalker boots. They go through brush to get the invisibility/movement speed, and quite literally, sneak up behind you at an angle you couldnt have anticipated, even for a stealth champion. I've had this used against me twice, one of which by a Maokai.
Scuttle Racing
We all probably saw the reddit clip of the Blitzcrank Blessing messing with the race. That needs to be adjusted lol, it screwed me recently by pulling my crab backwards.
Bardle Royale
This is the event that often times swings a game heavily in one direction. The result of the royale often times ends with someone becoming On-Fire. There has been a meta in Blitz already centered around this event and certain champions are beginning to be picked, not only because they are great champions, but because in Royale, their strengths become even stronger. These champions are but are not limited to...
Brand : Save the ult until the battlefield gets small enough to unleash upon the enemy team Veigar : With enough CD-reduction, his E becomes a real game changer as the battlefield will be too small to maneuver around it Poppy : Save the ult until the battlefield gets small enough to knock a few people out of the field, burning them alive Tristana (sometimes) : Save the ult until the battlefield gets small enough to knock 1 or a few people out of the field, again, burning them alive
I'm sure there are more, but its become clear to me that some champions are being picked sheerly for this event. My solution to this would be that for the duration of the event, the On-Fire streaks are halted; they will neither progress nor reset for the entirety of the event, regardless of death. It feels really terrible to have a tremendous momentum swing because a mage became On-Fire in this event.
On-Fire!
With enough kills/assists puts your champion On-Fire! and gives them oodles of strength, mana regeneration, and cooldown reduction; it's like a miniature Urf buff. You get all these goodies at the cost of receiving increased damage. But what if I'm not played a damage dealing champion, like a tank, and I become on fire? This is what I'd like to change. I want to remove the "assist" part of the On-Fire buff and make it kills-only to receive. As mentioned previously, I play tanks and supports in this gamemode; it feels incredibly horrible to be on Sion, Poppy, Malphite and become on-fire only to be shredded significantly quicker. That's not what I wanted when I picked these champions :(. By making it kills only, I'm less likely, as a tank, to go On-Fire.
Snowball Fight
The snowball fight is a fun mode, and I'm not calling for any major changes to it. Rather, I'm calling for a change to its interaction with a particular champion, Zoe. The snowball is a summoner spell, so for each usage, Zoe gets a movement speed buff and begins passively throwing her W : Passive WHEEEEE at you. I've witnessed a Zoe kill an enemy without attacking on her own. She was being chased by the enemy but pelted the enemy with snowballs on her escape, each snowball triggering her W whilst she was on the run.
A small change I'd add to the snowball fight would be immediately after the snowball fight ends, but all pre-existing summoner spells on a 7~10 second cooldown. This is to prevent players from accidentally blowing a flash from accidentally thinking they're still wielding a snowball.
Sudden-Death
Oooooohhh boy. This one.
As it is right now, I really hate Sudden Death. I'm entirely in support of forcing a game to a close, but the way it's done can lead to very frustrating losses. I am sick and TIRED of losing games that would otherwise be victories because of sudden death. Games like this and games like this. Here is what I would do.
- Treat Sudden-Death like Bardle Royale and revive all previously dead teammates/enemies
If there is one thing that annoys me tremendously, it's when my teammates decide they're too cool for thinking, pick an unfavorable fight when the SD countdown is at 7 seconds, lose the fight, and leave everyone else fighting SD in a 3v5.
- Remove the 360-degree Rocket Grab from the walking Nexus
This again can cause a very unfair swing in the battle. I've both won and lost games because the 360-degree rocket grab yanked an enemy Maokai towards my carry, or yanked a carry towards the enemy Zed who's On-Fire.
And this is all I can think of at the moment. Feel free to comment your opinions as well; maybe we can get a rioter's attention.
