Finding a Main

So I'm sure everyone has gotten to a point in their League of Legends career where their champion isn't working anymore and that's understandable. Every champion needs some time in the spotlight before the next group of champions becomes meta. I started playing League of Legends last year during late season 7 and I started off with support because I had no clue how to play the other roles. Braum was my first ever main and I loved playing every second of him... up until I started my ranked career and realized that he wasn't the best at the time (Ardent Meta).

Afterwards, I mained Shen which I have 175k mastery points on him right now. He is probably my favorite champion in the game right now and although I tend to get put in losing matchups, I didn't really mind cause I loved playing him. Although, I want to increase my rank and without a duo queue partner and I've noticed that is near impossible in Silver, especially since I lose 20 LP and gain 17, but that's besides the point.

I wanted to know if I should look for a new main? I am not a fan of carry champions such as ADCs or assassins, and I'm rather inconsistent with bruisers. Should I just wait for the next tank meta or should I force myself to learn someone new?

If you enjoy Shen (or any champion, for that matter) don't be afraid to continue playing them even if they aren't considered the best or you struggle.

Practicing champions will increase your skill over time, just because you may have losing matchups now doesn't mean you can't adapt and win in the future! I've got about 210k mastery points on Pyke right now and I'm still learning things about different matchups and figuring out different ways to play tougher lanes.

If anything, I'd say consider trying Shen out in different ways (Going top with Hail of Blades/Press the Attack or support with Guardian/Aftershock) and with different build paths. Find one that nets you the best results and keep improving on that and your playstyle until you reach your peak performance! If you really feel the need to pick up a new champion, feel free to do so as well.

If you love Shen, play em. 175k mastery is a lot, but you have not gotten to the point where you know exactly what to do in certain situations to guarantee a win. He is pretty good right now so you don't need to change him because of a meta shift, especially when ADCs get better he will likely improve as well since he's a top laner that can actually peel them.

TLDR; Play what you love the most unless it's really bad, you will only get better and climb on it eventually.

If you truly think it's a time to move on, I suggest playing Kled. Really strong, funny voice lines, cool music when remounting, dismounting etc.

Galio might fit your Shen theme and he is a sort of semi tank. I played him for a bit and he works as an AP mage but hes still good at protecting allies if you take aftershock.

I mained Jinx first, then Warwick, now Nidalee and I play a ton of junglers now.

Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar Alistar

You can have 1 singular brain cell and still be more impactful than 99.9% of the champion roster with this pick.

Hey, adc main here.

A friend I know since we were kids was a Shen main that loved to play supportive top picks (and Renekton) until we started to play duo, now he mains Braum but Shen is still up there on his most played champs.

My recomendation for you is to try tank supps like Braum, Taric, Alistar or even Shen supp because I feel that it's a playstyle that caters to the Shen players like you, and of course it helps a lot if you have an adc to duo with.

laughs in 50%+ winrate Azir main

honestly just dont give a heck about the meta until you're one of the top 10 players in the world. you can make anything work if you know how to play it. Not to pull the rank card but you are silver, whatever the meta is doesn't affect you. Yes there are winrates and stuff but that's across the WHOLE division, it doesn't count for mains.

this guy has a 56% winrate on shen. if he can make it work at diamond 2, where the meta is more enforced, then so can you.

matei named myself KINDRED because she is my main but now im thinking of becoming a support main, this was a bad time to have changed my mind

but look here, you cannot go onto the boards and ask for a new main, a main becomes YOUR main because YOU are good at that champ or you love that champ, when i first started playing kindred on my old account i was going 1/4, 1/5 but i loved playing her and as i played her more i started getting S ranking in the majority of my games, no one can tell you what to play because they like that champion, the best thing to do is to play normals with champs that you have never tried, and you will end up loving a certain champ since mains are more of a preference or personal playstyle so it cannot be recommended by someone else, also try playing some ARAM so you can get randomly selected champs, that can help you try new stuff out
