Does normal mmr reset at the start of the season?

I cannot practice champions in normal games anymore because the matchmaking system is ridiculous and i get matched versus diamonds when I only hit gold 5 earlier today (from being placed all the way down in silver IV) and i really want to know if it resets, since its unfair to the people in my ranked games if i practice a champ for the first few times there. Does it reset in season 7?

This season was announced as a 'soft reset' sorta meaning your placement games will be based around your previous rank. So for the most part everyone will place below their season six rank with very few exceptions.

I don't think normals MMR ever resets.

Normals MMR never resets. You're probably getting matched against diamonds because those diamonds do nothing but ranked for most of the season, and thus have gold-level normals MMR.
