Kog'Maw in Ascension (Resurrected?)

I was playing a game with a Kog in it, and I saw something really weird.

He and Xerath were about to die, but Kog died first, and with that passive of his, killed the Ascended and resurrected himself. The death didn't show up on the scoreboard.
