They depend on your opponents and their MMR, on you and your MMR and on how well you performed during those games. This year tho it seems they're way more severe, no matter how well you do you'll always end up at least 1 full division lower than you were before. If you're silver you'll end up in bronze 100%. If you're gold you'll 100% go into silver or even bronze if you performed poorly, etc...
