I agree, magic resist and mana would be a great addition.

As for question about Essence Reaver, this item tends to work well on AD carries who have small mana issues. It actually works fairly well on and since they have such a low mana costs, and among the smaller late game mana pools. It's also fairly effective when paired with . 3% of your current mana pool is consumed and the damage is added to your single target attacks. If you then gain a percent of that mana back, your next single target attack will be stronger. This actually works better on champions with larger mana pools that are still capable of dealing a considerable amount of AD damage.

Isn't athene's good enough?
