Went up in flex placements. Is it actually accurate?

Majority of players are complaining about the flex rank they got.

I finished my placements 8-2 after the potential fix was rolled out, in solo queue I am Plat 5, my flex rank put me at Plat 1.

Honestly I don't want a higher rank unless it's intended to be that way and I've earned it. Riot has said that you should be expecting a lower rank, because it is a soft reset, based at your solo queue mmr, which would explain getting a lower rank, so what if people get higher ranks compared to their solo rank? I haven't seen or read anything about it and would like some information/validation.
