How does the placements place you?

So in the beginning of s6 I got placed in b5 with 8 wins in my placements, I was really confused. Can someone explain how the placements work and what determines your rank.

league average, plus your games(mmr)/10 all over 2 which should land you a league lower or more.

The grades that you get at the end of the match on your champion eg: A+ or B are the things that determine how well you did that match. Wins and loses don't matter much caus u can get carried and win or have a feeder and lose.
