Poll: Funnest Season in League in terms of gameplay?

Straw Poll

What season in League of Legends did you find the most fun to play in?

This can be because of the meta at the time, certain items (rip DFG), certain viable champions (rip AP Yi), nostalgia (miss noob days?), or whatever reason! What season did you find to be the most fun?

Personally, I have to go with Season 3. Although I did start in Season 2, I hardly played at all then- I got really into League at season 3 and played with my friends mostly all the time as we tried to make it in Ranked 5's. That was a lot of fun. I played Top Lane and back then I could play some of my favorite champions like Jayce or Kennen and had the versatility to change up my build to be more utility based (like frozen mallet on Jayce which is pretty funny) or straight up damage depending on the situation (Kennen would hit for bricks you know, especially with the doran's blade start). Overall I just found it to be a lot of fun back then and I don't know if I'll ever get that same amount of enjoyment out of this game as I did then.

Late season 4's tank meta where Rammus was pick or ban and Ancient Golem had Cinderhulk's scaling.

IMO, the healthiest metas are ones where supports, tanks and utility champs are the most banned, not damage carries. Damage carries being banned means that they must be incredibly OP in the damage or safety department.

Assassin meta was one of my least favorite times a while ago

that would've been early season 4.

Season 4 basically had 4 metas:

  1. Assassins mid and jungle, mage supports bot, tanky bruisers top

  2. Feral Flare junglers, ranged tops, tanky supports, assassin mids

  3. Poke/siege meta with ranged tops, long ranged mids (Ziggs vs. Nidalee was the typical lane matchup) and squishy disengage/peel supports

  4. ADC/Tank meta with percant scaling Ancient Golem where Rammus and Tristana were pick or ban.

Didn't the assassin meta last all the way through Worlds, though? I'm not sure if my memory is hazy on that.

I dislike how Cinderhulk forces you to buy 60% of a unique Sunfire passive when I would otherwise build full Sunfire back in S4. :(

I guess the "top laners and Ezreal aren't allowed to play with my toys" crowd got what they wanted. At least for now, until they make even more DRM-locked jungle items that will still magically end up getting played outside of jungle, which will still upset Rito even though they're forcing us to play duo Mordekaiser because lolol Rito strategic diversity, our innovations only, and only when we say so.

No, assassin meta was mostly S3. S4 was poke/siege meta. People actually wrote huge amounts of articles talking about how to counter it.

Huh, weird. I guess I forgot all about a whole year. I just remember Bjergsen blowing people up like S3 and S4 were the same, and then TSM stalling out for a large chunk of S5 because lolol no Zed.

For me it was S2 and a little bit of S4.

I like trinkets in S4 but then again I'm kind of conflicted- it seems like there is actually less ward coverage in solo que since nobody buys wards at low elo and just thinks "eh trink's enough"

It's not the problem with the items but the players in this case, I just think more options is always good for the game as a whole.

Yeah that's why overall I'm happy about that and things like machete changes as well. so many different colored knives

lmao true i'm sure supports who like to actually get items would much prefer the change.

It can be pretty hard to make yourself buy a Sightstone on a non-support in solo queue. I usually won't do it in jungle unless I know for sure that I'm getting carried by the other lanes. If any of them are feeding, then my instinct is to put as much combat stats as I can under my direct control. Sometimes I skip the occasional ward I should be buying, though, and I chronically forget about trinket upgrades.

But sometimes, "screw vision, I have to tank/carry" is the right call if, say, bot lane is golden but mid sucks and top is meh.

this is the correct mindset. Never get a sightstone as a jungler in solo queue if you have any bit of carry potential whatsoever (so you aren't playing Nunu) or you are playing Lee Sin or Jax.

For me, I really like this season best(S5), but that's mostly because I stopped really trying to play hard champs and just play easy champs now that aren't necessarily the best or in meta (i.e. on the edge of meta, not like Heimerdinger jungle)

Stopped playing jungle cause of all the item changes and switched to playing APC supports, and they're pretty fun when you know exactly how to screw over the opponent's early game jungle with a well timed high damage long range spell. I've won literally every game I've gotten lucky and stolen gromp, and a decent percentage as blue side just poking them off of their blue buff.

After that, it would have to be S1 when junglers actually needed built in hard sustain and you couldn't do early ganks cause you'd have no health. Then S2 came and it was like everyone can jungle, and level 2 ganks are a thing now, so I hated that; S3 was a bit better.
