Is personal score taken into account during placements?

I have a friend who ended gold V last year and i ended Silver 2, he won 4/10 and got bronze 1 and i won 5/10 games and got Silver 5 this season. I was wondering if personal score has an effect on placements or it was purely the amount of wins out of 10?

Neither. It was almost completely based on your MMR. ~~He was higher elo before, so he placed higher than you.~~ Then I read the post. Lol.
