Statikk Shiv over IE?

As an ADC main, the majority of the time I usually go for an Infinity Edge first. However, whenever i am behind in lane, that IE seems a little out of my price range. Would going for a Statikk before be a safe route, especially when playing champs that have the item as a core in their build (ex- Sivir, Quinn, Ashe)?

Shiv doesn't give nearly as much of a power boost as an IE and needs more crit + ad to back it up to be worth anything.

If behind you might try going for a blood thirster first as the lifesteal + shield and the ad will help you a lot more and still gives the 80 ad for your auto's to do more damage. You should still definitely get the IE before the other crit items in any case though (except maybe on vayne who can justify a PD after her bork)

If you're having trouble buying the IE i don't see how you'll have an easy time buying bloodthirster, since both require a BF sword. Any alternatives or should you just save your 1400 gold if you are forced to back with that much (and have all the other components already)?

If you have 1400 gold and all of the components for an IE then just buy the IE. it's, what, 675 recipe cost? If you have BF and Pickaxe and maybe plan on farming up a bit for awhile, then Avarice blade isn't uncommon if you plan on building into shiv to get a little bit more gold out of the farm. Shiv as first item doesn't do much for you, just some AS and Crit chance. IE/BT is a lot more important than AS/Crit early on i believe.

All the other components. As in you have the pickaxe and the crit cloak, but can't afford the BF sword.
