Double Nerfs~ Ryze Improvement Idea
Back when Ryze was a top lane monster Riot did the rightful thing and nerfed him but I believe it was a little over done
With the most recent changes to Ryze he lost a decent amount of damage on his Q, up to 40 at max rank which is too much considering they just changed Doran's shield to block damage from single target spells, Each spell Ryze has does single target damage and get's blocked by this passive pressuring Ryze to go mid lane where champions don't normally buy Doran's shield
With these changes Ryze certainty isn't very good top lane anymore and you probably haven't seen one after these changes and sadly Ryze mid took a serious blow from this as well

Back when Riot buffed his Q range to 625 to define him as a mid lane mage I thought this was a good step but this buff made him a very popular top laner for his range which caused problems, as a mid he is already kinda short on range and straight up burst especially early game making him weak in lane but a stronger mid game but even towards mid game he isn't as good as someone with a weak early game should be
After the change to Doran's shield I don't believe Ryze needed as hard as a nerf as the -40 damage and I ask for Riot to try a couple of things on the PBE for Ryze and the Doran's shield
What I propose to the balance team and the beta testers is for Ryze's Q damage to bump up slightly, not the whole 40 back
My proposed scaling: 50/75/100/125/150 Easy numbers with simple scaling, still lower than before the nerf and a healthier middle Ryze If this becomes a problem when testing in the beta you could try lowering the scaling by 5 or the starting value by 10
But if this still causes a problem with Top Lane Ryze becoming a monster again I propose some Doran's shield changes to try out too
Unique Passive: Blocks 10 damage from single target spells and 5 from single target attacks
Hope that you guys can test some of this out and help Ryze out!
