I'm having a hard time finding "my champion"

(I'm not quite sure if this fits in this thread, if not feel free to move it to the correct thread and also sorry for the inconvenience in advance)

I'm trying to find my main. I have played the vast majority of champions that riot has to offer. So far the champions I have the most success with are The Mage class! I understand their kits well and their role on the rift the majority of the time. I have been recently playing vel'koz and have been dominating with him! The only problem is he doesn't give me the same joy as say Lulu did when I mained the support role. It's fun to win... but something about vel'koz doesn't keep me hooked. Does anyone have any suggestions for champions similar to vel'koz in style?? Other champs I've had success with that keep me hooked for short periods of time were champions like Syndra, Cassiopeia, Lux, Ziggs, Sol, and lulu when I played her solo lane (rito crushed my favorite play style with a nerf hammer on steroids)

Lux or Karma probably. They have a lot of utility, both in CC and shields, while offering a lot of damage.

The quintessential problem with LOL: there are the champs you like and then there are champs who you are actually good with.

Though I've never played Vel myself, I have played enough games against him to kinda figure out he's a feast or famine type champion that needs to win early in order to be useful. Have you tried Leblanc? She's similar in that if you go even or lose lane then you're going to have a bad time trying to assassinate people later on. But on the flip side if you win early and get a good roam or two, you become an assassin monster late game. Granted she is getting a rework soon so if you decide to pick her up it may be short lived. LB is one of my favorite mid laners, right up there with Azir (I know the pain of the nerf hammer), both can be mechanically challenging but at the same time are highly rewarding both in game and levels of fun when played well.

I personally like Cho gath mid, but he's definitely different than vel koz. Maybe try malzahar? Or brand. Or even fiddlesticks.

Find OP champion that snowballs the fuk out of games. Play champion till you do it almost every game. Congrats, you've found your champion.

Xerath

Long range, high damage poke, similar to what you'll find in Vel'koz, Lux, and Ziggs. Great damage, really rewards good positioning, and the passive gives you a LOT of flexibility with your item build (most games I don't even get a mana item).

The "hook" for me has been his ultimate, especially at level 16. The range on that is incredible. If an ally's getting chased down, it's amazing what some cross map fire will do to deter the pursuer. If you've got Rylai's, you can help those escapes even more by slowing the enemy down, or using your ult to help your front line catch a fleeing target. If your team starts a fight without you there, no biggy, just use your ult and help out from where you are.

Ally Jhin? Make the enemy team dance as you both ult in unison. Enemy Jhin? "Return to sender" his little shots with a barrage of your own.

Simple don't have champion just play what you feel like. I only play champions that I like that are in the meta for instance but I don't limit myself to 1 champion forever. Like right now I play Rumble, Poppy, Jayce, Orianna, Elise, and Zac but earlier in the season I played Viktor, Azir, Zed, Irelia, Hecarim, and Rek'Sai.

But just because a champion is meta doesn't mean I like it for instance I don't like Kennen but he is arguably the best top laner I don't like Vlad or Cassiopiea and they are in the meta as well.
